Learning Targets For Today
- Using the vocabulary/terminology document, create questions to look and sound like the questions on the EOGs.
- When you return to your schools, you and your PLC will use the items created today to make a Common Assessment. The total number of questions for the common assessment should not exceed 10-15 items.
- You will administer the Common Assessment anytime from April 4th through May 27th. Only one is required, but you are welcome to create additional assessments from the item bank to support your students' understanding of ELA.
- You will share your students' results with your Leadership Team and they will share your school results with Kelly Cooper.

Testing Vocabulary-Taken Directly From Released Items
- Are we using the same vocabulary/terminology in our instruction/questioning as NCDPI uses in the tests?
- Are we using the same language (vocabulary and types of questions) in our classroom assessments as the students will see on the EOGS?
- We are not "teaching to the test," we are teaching our required curriculum (6, 7, 8)and standards. Knowing the State test specifications and using released test items, gives us a "cheat sheet" for making sure our students EXCEL!

Blooms Taxonomy
- Are my teacher created test questions as rigorous as the EOG questions?
- Am using Bloom's higher order question stems?
- Click here for a link to the question stems. Or, here is an easier to read version with Creation verbage. Cute Bloom's with verbage.
Outcome For Today
- Using the vocabulary/terminology document, create questions to look and sound like the questions on the EOGs.
- Post your questions and answers on your grade's document
- Your grade can choose to break into small groups or work as a team, but you will need to create 2-5 items for each word on the vocabulary/terminology document. *8th grade will be slightly different.
District Recommended Resources for ELA
English: Making sense of the Common Core State Standards and teaching in North Carolina can be challenging, at times. Classes have diverse learners from varying backgrounds who read at many different levels. How does a teacher design lessons to meet the needs of every student, every class period, every day?
