Letter from the Principal
Hello Sundling Families,
With only a few days in the books for the 20/21 school year students and staff are getting into a groove, following a daily virtual schedule, learning about our school and each other, and will soon be ready to begin the day to day learning of content. We are all very excited to have the school year underway, and we will continue to improve and challenge ourselves daily to foster a love of learning and meet the needs of our students in a virtual world. I cannot thank you enough for your continued understanding, flexibility, patience, and feedback as we started this year much different than ever before.
As a reminder, Sundling will be offering two days of material/textbook distribution for students and families (except for those who picked up Geometry materials). Those textbooks, workbooks and items that may be needed at home during virtual learning will be put together and labeled for parent pick up on the following days:
Monday, August 24, 2020 (9:00am-6:00pm)
Tuesday, August 25, 2020 (9:00am- 6:00pm)
As a change to my previous message, we will now be asking our families to pull into the main lot of the school, and follow the orange cones towards the main entrance to receive their materials. We will have staff available to grab the items from inside and bring them directly to your vehicle.You do not have to exit your vehicle. In order to help us with a quick distribution, please have a sign with your child's first and last name and grade level ready to show us. We hope to keep the lines moving quickly and get you in and out! If the dates do not work for your family, please connect with our office staff to make other arrangements. We would like to have these items for all students to begin using at home/online on Wednesday, August 26th.
Please be sure that students follow the WRS 20/21 School Bell Schedule (linked below), and not the times listed in Infinite Campus. We realize that these are incorrect and can be confusing. We apologize and are looking for ways to fix that. Each student should have a copy of the scheduled times for their classes. The teachers will continue to work with students, and will be taking attendance each day. Also note that although each student has a three-minute passing period between each class, we have added a few additional minutes for transition at the end of each class period to allow both students and teachers a brief break, and time to move into their next class. We will continue to monitor and adjust as needed.
Our annual WRS Parent Orientation is scheduled for the evening of Thursday, August 27th. We are working now to create a virtual experience for our families so that they can learn more about our school, meet the teachers, and gain insight on how we will be working with their children over the next few months. I will be sharing a link to this presentation on Thursday evening, and once shared, it will remain available and can be viewed at your convenience!

WRS PTA Reflections
I hope your student got a jump start this summer on what the Reflections theme means to them. The 2020-2021 Reflections theme is I Matter Because… Fill in the blank and let us know either through something written with words or expressed through dance or music or show us with photography or artwork.
The Reflections arts contest is a National PTA program supporting the arts in education. Please email me for the registration form or any of the rules. The categories are: Dance choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts. Submissions are due October 28, 2020.
