Bobcat Bulletin
August 2019
Welcome to the 2019-20 school year!
Whether you are the parent of a new kindergartener or have a fifth-grader finishing their last year at Bannes, the beginning of each year is a time filled with great anticipation of what is to come. We are looking forward to working with you to ensure a positive and successful school year for your student.
This year, our staff will read a story LIVE on our @BannesBobcats Facebook page. I will list the dates every month in this Smore Newsletter. It's scheduled to be every other Tuesday at 7 PM throughout the WHOLE school year.
We will also be sending home a schoolwide reading calendar every month. The activities will change monthly, but the reason stays the same...We are trying to promote reading at home. Please help us encourage your child(ren) to read at home, and we will have monthly incentives to promote this activity. You may either print from the attachment below or your child will be bringing a hard copy home tomorrow, Friday, August 30th.
If 90% of our students complete all of the activities and return it by September 30th, Mr. Callaghan will spend arrival and dismissal on the roof and the rest of the day on rollerblades.
Thank you again for all of your cooperation as we work through our arrival and dismissal procedures. So far, so good. Our number one goal throughout the school year is ensuring EVERY student arrives to and from school safely. Sometimes this may take a few extra minutes. Please have patience and know that there is a reason for what we are doing.

At the start of the school year, we ask that all families take a moment to review the school handbook and familiarize yourself with its contents.
Walkers and car riders should arrive at school no earlier than 7:45 a.m. Our school day begins promptly at 7:55 a.m. and any student arriving after this time will be marked tardy for the day. If you are dropping off after 7:55 a.m., please walk your child into the building and sign them in.
Please remember how important good attendance is for your student’s academic well-being. If your child is going to be absent, please report this to the school office.
Kindergarten physicals and vision exams are due to the School Nurse by October 16, 2019. Also, Kindergarten and second grade students need a dental exam by May 15, 2020. Please send your exam forms to the nurse as soon as they are completed. All district health forms are available on our website at ksd140.org.
Keep in Touch!
I encourage you to visit ksd140.org throughout the school year for key events and information pertaining to our school and the District. As always, please don't hesitate to contact me if you need assistance. My door is always open.
Once again, welcome to the 2019-20 school year. I am honored to serve as your principal.
Respectfully,
Mr. Dan Callaghan
Principal
