Team Penn
3/27 - 3/31
Four Simple Words
You are the best!
Penn students are so blessed to have you. Continue supporting students through your caring and generous ways. I am seeing students connect with teachers and one another at increased levels this year and it is all because of you.
When students start giving their teachers PRIDE referrals like Devin gave to Ms. Panetta; when teachers like Ms. Heck gets an apple from one of her toughest students each day, or when students just stop by Mr. P.'s room to say hi, I'd say students can see how much you care!

Over & Above!
One of the teachers who has gone over and above, but doesn't toot her own horn is Ms. Wiltshire. Brittany Wiltshire passionately goes about providing a valuable opportunity for students through the school garden. She has spent time soliciting additional gardening supplies and plants for Penn's spring planting. She has spent out of school time picking up soil, plants and goodies for the kids. Thanks for being such a great team player and support for Team Penn Ms. Wiltshire!
Basketball Team 3rd Place
Penn's basketball team came in 3rd place! We are so proud of all of our players! Special thanks to Ms. Ericksen for attending practices and games to encourage our students to do their best on the court. It paid off!
Ms. Jackson's Availability
I know that finding me during the day can be like finding Waldo! I want to make sure that I am touching base with you when a need arises, but you will typically not find me in my office, as the much of the work takes place in different settings beyond the office. Typically, when I am out and about in the hallways, I am on my way to a scheduled occasion on my daily schedule such as a walkthrough, observation, etc. An administrator's day to day schedule is created much like your daily schedules when you have allowable times for math, reading etc. Likewise, I have allowable times for meetings with various stakeholders, parents, walkthroughs, observations, conferences, discipline, etc.
If you need anything, I do also have daily allowable time built into my daily schedule for one on one or team conversations, but you will have to let me know that you need to talk because the open times vary from day to day depending on meetings and needs in the school that week. Ms. King has my schedule. If I am not in the office, feel free to let her know that you need to meet with me during one of the open times during the week.
Also, sending an email for specific requests is helpful. It helps me to remember what your need is. If I am caught in the hallway on my way somewhere, even though your request is important to me, it may be forgotten if it is not in writing. Please send it through email so that your needs can be handled in a timely manner.

The students really enjoy them. Please be aware that your volunteer does not have experience in the elementary setting. They will rely on you to help them know when students do not understand a concept and gently step in or "ask a question" that a student may have. You must remain in the classroom with the volunteer at all times. They cannot be left alone with the students for any reason. You will have specials, lunch and restroom breaks at their regularly scheduled times. The remainder of the day, the JA volunteer will teach the lessons from the JA curriculum.

Who Does What?
Maintenance - A gentle reminder, Maria takes care of all maintenance requests (broken fixtures, flooding, clocks, etc.). If she cannot get if fixed, she will bring it to my attention. When you bring those requests to me, I become the middle man because I just take them to Maria to place a work order request from the district. Maria faithfully checks her email and will take care of your requests.
Supplies - We have a supply closet with office supplies and student supplies. You may ask Ms. Love or Ms. King through email or a visit to the office.
Technology problems- Philpot PK - 2nd; Ellington 3rd - 6th
Student attendance problems - Twanna Johnson
Home visits - Twanna Johnson or Mrs. Kirby
Tier 2 - Administration (Mon. - Tues); Karen Kirby (Wed - Fri)

This or That - Typically your team leader will know the answer, if not, please see me. Roles and assignments this year may have been confused with the addition of the Social worker, and elimination of the parent involvement facilitator.
If there are any other broad stroke tasks that you do not know who to ask, please let me know because there may be others who also have the same question. Thanks!
