My Continuing Gratitude and Appreciation to You - Whittier Families
Dear Whittier Families,
I want to take a moment to just say thank you. I am so appreciative of all of your efforts in supporting your student and their teacher in their learning together. I know none of it is particularly easy.
The best we can do is continue to communicate, share the successes as well as the challenges, and adjust to the changing circumstances.
I grew up on a little island in Galway Bay, off the west coast of Ireland, so a lot of my frame of reference is related to the sea and her fickle nature. It is true that when you sail a boat, the boat is never truly "on course" but needs constant adjusting of the sail or the rudder to keep heading to the destination.
The same could be said of what we do as parents and teachers - continue to adjust and adapt and never consider abandoning ship until all hope is lost. Here at Whittier, we want you to know that you never need to feel alone in the journey of raising and educating your children.
Surely Virtual Learning makes things much more challenging, but there is also an opportunity for closer communication and partnership between teachers and parents than ever before. I hope that this will be one of the lasting legacies of this time and that we continue to maintain this partnership long after Covid19 is in the rearview mirror.
Below, I want to draw your attention to two special features:
1. The Weekly Counselor's Corner with Mrs. Reese and Mrs. Leatherman has some timely and important information and resources for our families. Please check it out.
2. For the artists among our student body, there's an opportunity for expression and creativity centered around a very important theme.
