WHAT'S UP WITH THE SPECIALS?
MUSIC/P.E./LIBRARY
The Specials
K-4 students get to have PE/Music/Library 4 days a weeks! Monday and Friday classes are about 15 minutes each. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday there are 2 classes approximately 25 minutes each. Many fun learning units are explored in each of the "Specials". The following are some that have already been covered or ones that we are doing now.
FUN FITNESS STATIONS
K-4 students have been using different FUN FITNESS STATIONS to work on their upper body, abdominals, legs, and incorporate agility also. Scooter pull, climb the wall, pull-ups, tug of war, push-ups, jump rope, toss and catch, weighted balls, shuttle runs, and hopscotch...just to name a few!! The students are having an awesome time and are learning important skills and fundamentals along the way. We will be starting a FITNESS CHALLENGE soon.
STARS OF THE MONTH
Each class takes a turn being "Stars of the Month". The fourth grade class started off by performing in October for our Halloween show. The third grade will present a Thanksgiving concert and the Kindergarten will provide the entertainment for the Christmas program. Second grade will perform in January and the First grade will finish off the series of concert with a show in February.
PES Library/Pizza Hut Fundraiser
Our students sold Pizza Hut Cards to raise money to purchace new books for the library. The classrooms that sold the most cards were Mrs. Brobst's ECD and Ms. Thaden's 1st Graders. The top salesperson was 1st grader, Kaitlyn Rothe. These students were rewarded for their efforts with a pizza party donated by our local Pizza Hut. We sold a total of 497 cards with a proft of $7 on each card. Way to go students! The students have given suggestions of what they would like to have in our library and are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our new selection.
