Ridgeview Review
October 26, 2018
It is easier to show intentional kindness when we are creating something or writing to someone. It is harder to show kindness in our day to day interactions with one another. Sometimes our guard comes down and our actions and words become hurtful.
As we go into the next 3 weeks before Thanksgiving Break, let's be very aware of how our affect, tone, and words effect the person we are interacting with. Let's remember that compassion and patience are things we expect from our students and should expect from ourselves. And let's remember that we are all here for the same reason...because we love kids.
Email Overload....
Any additional communication you send to your parent groups during the week may get lost in the shuffle. One suggestion for managing all of the information that you need to give parents is to create a recurring "Newsletter" appointment on your calendar. Within this appointment you can add things to the notes section that you need to remember to include on Friday's newsletter. This way, you don't forget what needs to be said, but parents aren't overloaded with email throughout the week.
Of course if something is time sensitive and waiting until Friday is too late, then you would need to send something mid-week.
See the example below and let me know if you need help setting this up!

KISD Social Emotional Learning Survey
The intention of this district survey is to support the selection of Social-Emotional Learning Pilot Campuses. Selected campuses will be given the opportunity to receive the first SEL plans.
All campuses will receive a plan tailored to their campus interests and needs over the course of the next three years. This will include the three SEL essential practices: beginning the day with a positive, ending the day with a positive, and incorporating SEL into the climate at of the school through campus selected programs and activities. Staff will receive training and support. Students and staff will also be assessed with a simple survey on campus culture, staff/student relationships, and personal well being.
