Principal Aguilar Fasel's Message/Mensaje de la Directora Aguilar Fasel
Dear Wildcat Family,
Thank you so very much for your support. Although our staff is working super hard to support our students, we cannot do this work without you! We are excited to share that we have met with almost every family for parent/guardian - teacher conferences! Our goal is always to connect with 100% of our families and we are just a handful away from meeting our goal again this year. We appreciate your time and getting to know you better and better, even in comprehensive distance learning, so we can best meet the needs of your student.
Each month I hold a Coffee w/ the Principal. Although the coffee is virtual, it has been wonderful to hear from parents/guardians regarding what is going well and what we can improve upon. The last group of parents/guardians we met with suggested having a Coffee w/ the Teachers Night. Since we are unable to have our Winter Performance on December 10th, we will instead be taking that time for you to visit with your student’s teacher and to get to know other parents/guardians in your student’s class. This should be a relaxing, fun, interactive time to get together. We will have two 40 minute sessions 6:00 - 6:40pm and 6:45 - 7:25pm so you can visit two teachers. If you have three students, please feel free to visit multiple classrooms. I hope you can join us!
With only three weeks left of class before we head to Winter Break, please continue to encourage your student to attend class on time and to be truly present. Students will be able to learn if they are present, participating in class discussions verbally, in the chat or the various platforms teachers are providing. A child’s education takes a team effort, the team consists of the child, the parent/guardian, the teacher/educational assistant/counselor/principal - it takes us all doing our part to ensure a quality education for a student. Please check in with your student to be sure they are participating in their Google Classroom and not visiting other places online during the school day. Their engagement in class will determine how much they learn. If they are watching tv or playing video games during the school day, that will not help them learn. If you would like support in helping your student be more engaged in their Google Classroom, please let us know. We have many wonderful examples of students being fully engaged - please give a big thank you to your student if they are working hard in comprehensive distance learning, being respectful, honorable and kind, just as they do when we are on campus. We understand that learning on a computer is very challenging for some of our students, especially our youngest. I have a grandson in Kindergarten so I see how challenging it can be. We are here for you and your student. We care about them, love them and want them to have a successful school year. Again, please feel free to reach out to us for support. Ms. Carmolinga and I are happy to meet with your student via Google Meets to help them feel more connected to school.
Have a wonderful December and holiday season! May you be well and stay safe! Thank you, thank you for all you do!

Estimadas Familias Wildcats,
Hello W.L. Henry Families,
As we continue to do daily work/school via “distance learning,” we are realizing all the growth we are making in technology. One of my goals for this year has been to develop a counseling website with the help of Emma and staff. On this site, our hope is that you will be able to access the most “up to date” information and resources available in our community. Different tabs have been available for students and parents/guardians. Please feel free to visit our website and let us know if you would like something included in the website. The website was made with you in mind and we put lots of hours and love into developing this site- we hope you enjoy it.

VCR Program Description / Descripción del Programa VCR
VCR Program Description
Each Thursday morning, the latest VCR recording of books and stories are uploaded on to AgeCelebration’s Facebook page for Hillsboro elementary school children to enjoy with their families whenever convenient. VCR is a group of community members who want to share their love of reading with children and let them know we care about them and their education. We are very pleased to have students and families from Eastwood, Free Orchards, Minter Bridge, Lincoln St., McKinney, and W.L. Henry taking time to listen to the VCR readings each week, and we welcome all schools and all young students to join us virtually.
VCR is an extension of AgeCelebration’s long-running “Community Readers” program at Eastwood Elementary School. Since it is not possible to be together right now, we came up with a way to let the kids know we are thinking of them and want them to enjoy reading just as much as we do! Feel free to share the link at your school, your PTO, all the young children in your life or in your neighborhood! Everyone invited! Everyone welcome! So gather round, settle in, and enjoy this week’s stories!
