Learning in reception
It has been great to see the children growing in confidence and developing friendships in Reception this week. Lottie proudly showed a super sunshiney smiley face that she had made at home and then did an excellent job of teaching a group of friends how to make their own. Thank you Miss Lottie!
School Update
Dear Parents and Carers
Thank you for your continued support and all the help given to the children as they become accustomed to our 'new normal.' It has been really pleasing to see the positive attitudes being displayed across all classes. The children always amaze me by how quickly they adapt to new situations and settle into new routines and we are pleased that our attendance continues to be above the national average.
Testing times
Like yourselves we are frustrated that the government's coronavirus testing service is not operating effectively which is having a profound impact on schools across the country. The government have recently reviewed systems for advising schools, in the event of an outbreak and we are hopeful that the situation will improve quickly. However, if you do need advice regarding personal circumstances please do contact the school or NHS 111. Further guidance and links to key government sites can be found on our school website by following the link below:

Remote learning
All schools need to have a clear plan in place by the end of September for remote education. This can be quite complex, as the school needs to consider how it will respond in different circumstances and the best ways that quality learning can be maintained for children in school and those isolating at home.
We have put together a plan which can be accessed by clicking on the link below, if you have any feedback please do let us know by emailing admin@riponcathedral.n-yorks.sch.uk.
Kind regards

Oscar's Breakfast and After School Club
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, Oscar's has a slightly different look and location (the school hall) to last year, but the hours and cost remain the same! If you require childcare and do not already have logon details for the online booking site, please email admin@riponcathedral.n-yorks.sch.uk Thank you.
PLEASE CAN WE REMIND EVERYONE THAT IT IS EVEN MORE IMPORTANT THAN USUAL TO BOOK IN ADVANCE. WE HAVE TO KEEP TO LIMITED NUMBERS AND WOULD HAVE TO TURN YOU AWAY IF WE ARE BEYOND CAPACITY. THANKS FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING AND COOPERATION.

The Friends of Ripon Cathedral School
Hello Everyone!
What a weird year it has been so far but The Friends were so happy to see lots of smiling faces coming back to school. During our time apart, we tried to keep up with putting various activities and jokes and riddles on our Facebook page to keep you all entertained. We also made an effort to put as many events as possible on via the page to keep The Friends’ fun alive!
The Virtual Summer Fair was great. Thank you to everyone who took part in various games.
We are just waiting for a figure of how much we raised for the last school year and once we know, we'll let you know.
We have one date in the diary and it's one that we have been asked lots about and that is - Bags2School on Thursday 15th October. We will give you more information closer to the time. So please keep hold of any unwanted clothes, but also remember they do not accept ANY uniform logo or no logo.
Also we are intending on doing a second-hand uniform sale on our Facebook page. Once we have sorted through all of the uniform we will let you know more details.
We hope everyone has had a great first week back at school and that everyone has a lovely weekend.

Cathedral Children and Family Worker
Ripon Cathedral is appointing a Children and Family Worker to work together with the Canon Pastor in developing the flourishing and growing ministry to children and their parents. Children are a vital part of the cathedral community, whether singing as choristers, as regular members of the congregation or as pupils in the Ripon Cathedral Primary School. We wish to develop and expand both our current Sunday and midweek offer and seek to grow further our on-line presence which worked well during lockdown.
