Maundy Thursday Seder Meal/Holy Communion
As we enter Holy Week, we would like to invite your family to join us for a special Maundy Thursday meal at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 24. We’ll experience the Seder ritual that Jesus and the disciples participated in as they began their observance of the Passover in the Upper Room. We’ll share a meal together of homemade chicken noodle and vegetable soups, bread and fruit and conclude with Holy Communion, just as Jesus and the disciples concluded their time together in the Upper Room. Preschool children and older are invited and encouraged to participate in this special service. Please indicate your participation here or on the back of Sunday's attendance card.
Mark your calendar for the Easter Eggstravaganza on March 26th!
Special performance from Rockin with Rhett beginning at 10 a.m.!
Vista Kids Learning Hour (Sunday School) in Review... last weekend:
Last Sunday we made the whole church smell great as the smell of bread wafted down the halls as we explored Jesus eating Passover with the disciples! Our Vista Kids walked through one of the most well known meals that Jesus had with his disciples, the Last Supper or the Lord's Supper. Digging deeper into the origin, time, place, and happenings during this significant meal helped us to remember the new covenant through Jesus and helped children to connect what they see, hear, and experience during communion. Each class made and ate a "bread or meal to emphasize to students that in class we are not recreating holy communion, but doing what we can do every day when we have a meal. Each time we have a meal we can remember all the meals Jesus shared with his disciples, we don't have to wait until communion! Today is Palm Sunday and we will be remembering the triumphant entrance into Jerusalem! This Sunday we are helping the children to share the expectation and joy of the disciples. The disciples expecting a triumph, a win for Jesus! In the end that is what they received, but not in the way expected!
Children's Church- Camp Courage!
Camp Courage! Matthew 14:22-33
Last Sunday our Children's Worship explored fear of failure as we walked through the story of Peter being called out onto the water to walk with Jesus. As Peter focused on Jesus and his call he stood on the waves, but as the wind rose, Peter's fear grew and he began to sink. Peter's fear of failure, began to become reality. Jesus reached out and caught Peter, just as he catches us when we fear failing. During Children's Worship we sang, recreated the story with jiggly jello and molded clay to float instead of sink.
