Community Partnerships and Connections to ROAR

Galion's ROAR program partners with Galion Public Library

R.O.A.R. elementary students participated in a "Digging for Treasures" event with Heather Tiffany from the Galion Public Library back in March. Heather shared books about paleontology and the first dinosaur fossils found in England in the early 1800's. Students received a take-home book and a "dig kit" to practice the skills of a paleontologist at home to find their own small fossil. Galion Public Library is one of the community partners for Galion's R.O.A.R. program.

Galion's Primary and Intermediate ROAR program connects with the Crawford County Park District

In April, K-8 ROAR students learn about local bird feeding habits and made suet feeders to take home w/Josh Dyer, director of the Crawford County Park District.

Galion's Middle School ROAR program attends North Central State College Success Center for Career Readiness

Middle School ROAR Students took a field trip in April to the North Central State College Success Center in Bucyrus. The students were introduced to the courses and resources available in their own county through NCSC.

ROAR program teams up weekly with the Marion/Crawford Prevention Services to do fun activities with students

The Marion/Crawford Prevention Services come weekly to support all three buildings participating in ROAR. Each week focuses on a specific life skill. Recently, the students did an activity focused on teamwork. The Prevention Services team has used a number of creative, active youth development activities.
