PE NEWS

We are excited to see progress being made in the fitness level and strength of many of our students. Please continue doing sit ups, pushups and getting your heart rate up when exercising.
At this time of year, families think about gifts to give. This year consider things that your child can do to be active and exercise. Some options are: balls to play catch with, basketball, soccer ball, jump rope, hula hoops, skates, skateboards and bikes. Many of these things will be on sale. Families can be active together and it is better for everyone. Continue to play catch and basketball. Soon we will start jumping rope.

Game Time

Hot Lava

Randomly place sheets of paper on the floor (you can substitute pillow cases, towels, or any mats). Work your way across the room jumping and leaping from paper to paper, making sure not to touch the "hot lava" (the floor).

Recipe

This is an easy recipe even the littlest kids can help with. Add it to your holiday meal and let your child be proud that they helped.

Pretzel Kabobs

Ingredients:

· Pretzel sticks

· Grapes cut in half

· Cubes of cheese or string cheese cut in to pieces

Steps:

1) Cut cheese into cubes

2) Gently push a piece of cheese onto the pretzel stick

3) Gently push a grape onto the pretzel stick

4) Repeat with cheese and grapes until the pretzel is full

5) Enjoy! J

SMART Tag

Every Alief ISD student that is a bus rider has been provided with a SMART Tag from the district. The SMART Tag monitors students loading and unloading, providing real-time information to the Transportation Department, school, and the parent. It is very important for students to have their SMART Tag as it helps increase safety and security for students riding on the bus. If your child has lost or misplaced his/her SMART Tag, the replacement cost is $5.00 ($4.00 for badge and $1 for clear holder).

Go to Parent Portal and register to take advantage of the SMART tag parent features. If you are using a smartphone, you will be prompted to save the web app to your home screen. This will place the Parent App tile on your mobile device for easy access.
