November News #readytofly
A Note from Mrs. Phillips
Welcome to November!
We have many great things to celebrate at FCE for the month of October:
- Successful PTO Carnival/Literacy Night
- Inaugural Book Character Parade
- Shared student learning at Parent/Teacher conferences
- All K-2 students completed the NWEA Dyslexia Screener
- Data analysis to refine RTI interventions for our students
- Staff PD on John Hattie's Effect Size, Reading Block Allocations, and Restorative Practices. Our teachers strive to produce growth in all students and as a result, we are clarifying effective teaching and learning pedagogy.
- Hornet News is publishing our Friday announcements
- Positive Office Referrals continue to be recognized and celebrated, keeping the focus on positive behaviors and encouraging others to do the same.
As we move into November, we are deep into our curriculum maps, skilled reading groups, and math CFAs. Each thematic unit, on our maps, provides a clear path for our teachers that target the high priority standards. Interested in what your student is learning in both math and reading this quarter? Check out the images below or click on this link to access K-6 high-priority standards for quarter 2.
We are also excited to announce a new partnership with Jacy House. In November, grades 3-6 will receive evidence-based lessons that educate and empower our students on strategies to prevent, recognize, and respond appropriately to bullying, cyberbullying, all types of abuse, and digital abuse dangers. Jacy House and MBF trained advocates will be presenting lessons to grade levels, on two different days. Next year, we will include K-2 but this year they will also receive lessons from our social worker, Mrs. McCann. Here are the 5 safety rules that will be shared:
- Know What's Up
- Spot Red Flags
- Make A Move
- Talk It Up
- No Blame | No Shame
For more information on Jacy House, or to financially support their local efforts, you may visit their website: https://www.jacyhouse.org
My goal is to be as transparent as possible as your leader. If there is anything we can do better, please let me know. You can always message me on Dojo, Facebook or Twitter. I am also available by email and phone. I will return your communication within 24 hours. I am thankful for your continued support of both your child and our school community! I am hopeful you will find time to enjoy your family over Thanksgiving Break.
