Mrs. Flynn's Class

Updates, Reminders, and Fun Things to Try!

Welcome Back!

I hope everyone has had a relaxing and fun winter break. We've now recharged and are ready to start the second half of the year strong!

Holiday Party - Thank you so much for those that donated items for our party! Thank you to Mrs. Hay for coming in and doing an ornament craft with the kiddos.

Grading Changes: From now until the end of the year, students will only be able to correct assignments/tests for a higher grade if they scored below a 70%. They will then have an opportunity to correct and score a grade of up to a 70%. I will still work with students and have them correct - however the grade will only change up to a 70% if the original score was less than 70%.

All school spelling bee: One representative from each class will participate in the all school spelling bee. The top two finalists will compete in the Miami County Spelling Bee. The Sunflower spelling bee is at 1:30pm on Wednesday, January 13th. I will send home a study guide to those students who are interested tomorrow, Tuesday and we will have a class spelling bee with these words this Friday to determine our class representative.

Extra Credit

Extra credit is available to students - They know where it is located - some extra credit is available to print off from our classroom website. It is the students' responsibility to take, complete, and turn in extra credit.

*We are now working in our second math journal. Students will be bringing home their first one home and may turn in any pages we didn't do for extra credit.

PTO Spring Auction - Movie Night Basket Updated

We've had our first donation!!

I know it may seem far away, but PTO is starting to plan for their annual PTO Dinner and Auction. How this works: classes sign up for a basket theme, we ask for students to bring in donations, our baskets are auctioned off in a silent auction to help raise funds for our PTO. This is the major fundraiser that helps support our schools, without it, we wouldn't be able to attend field trips. PTO pays for busing and ticket amounts over the student contribution. They have also provided grants to teachers for items that directly benefit the students as well as technology items for both Cottonwood and Sunflower. Our class is teamed up with Mrs. Wolford's class and we are doing a Movie Night themed basket. This can include DVDs, popcorn, candy, etc for a movie night in, and we will collect gift cards/certificates to movie theaters for a movie night out. I'm happy to have our theme before Black Friday - there are usually great movie sales that weekend.

So far we have:

Dolphin Tail 2

Classroom Wishlist

  • Baby wipes - or hand wipes.
  • Headphones - for use with computer or iPads
  • Items for PTO auction.
