What is geothermal energy?

It is thermal energy stored in earth to heat and cool buildings by using a heat pump system.

Where does it come from?

  • It comes from underneath the earth where it is 4,000 miles underneath the earth which is about 5,000 to 11,000 degrees underneath.
  • Since it is 4,00 miles underneath the earth, it is were the magma is.
  • It can be found Arkansas, Texas, and Dakotas that is found along the Atlantic coast.

What are the disadvantages

  • Drawbacks? Since the energy comes from the earth, it is dangerous to get it.
  • Cost? It is costs about $20,000 to $25,000 to install it.
  • Negative impacts on earth? Since chemicals come out of the earth, it could polute the air on earth.
  • Easy Available? It is available because it is used as AC so anyone can use it if you are rich because it costs alot

How much does the USA use it?

The U.S. Does not use a lot of Geothermal energy because the percentage is less than 1% so it is 0.41%

How much does the world use it?

The percentage is more than 30% that people use in the world!
