Some Examples of physical change, chemical change, and chemical properties

Physical Change

Definition: A change that alters the form or appearance of a material but doesn't change the material into another substance

Examples: tearing paper, molding clay, and chopping wood

Non example: rust

Chemical Change

Definition: A change in matter that produces a substance with properties different from the original substance

Examples: Rusting, burning, and melting

Non examples: color

Four indicators of chemical change: 1 color change 2 gas produced 3 temperature change 4 odor released

Chemical Properties

A characteristic that is observed when a substance interacts with another substance( ability to rust, burn, to tarnish.)these are properties that can be determined by looking at or touching a substance.

Examples: Rust, burning, compounds breaking down

Non examples: molding clay
