His city to "My City"

Come hear James Weldon Johnson at the Snaps for Literature Club tonight! He will be sharing how he became one of the most noted poets in his time. He will also give some insight on his poem "My City." In a short interview he told us some interesting facts about his life and his experiences in Harlem. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida. As a young adult he began his life as a minister. Shortly after he moved to Harlem where he saw crowded sidewalks, massive skyscrapers, and interesting smells. This is what inspired him to write his poem "My City."
