Meet Our Newest EPSD9 Employee
September, 2022
Hello EPSD9 Community,
My name is Jasper, and I am part of the certified service team at Eagle Point School District 9. I am a facility dog that travels to all the schools in EPSD9, accompanied by my handler. My handler is Eric Thomas, who is the District Behavior Specialist.
I am very dedicated, and I love going to work every day. I get up at 4:00 AM to run an average of 4-5 miles, followed by playing, training, and eating breakfast. Eric trains me daily to make sure I'm prepared to put smiles on the faces of the students, staff, and anyone I meet. I patiently follow Eric around the house every morning, waiting for that moment to jump into the car and head to work.
I am trained and present as calm and attentive to a person's individual needs. In my regular visits to EPSD9, I am quickly becoming very popular with students and staff. My handler, Eric Thomas, gets to see how much joy I bring into everyone's day, he's so lucky.
Some classes have had the opportunity to play games with me as well. I'm trained to play with students, provide motivation for those who might need a little extra that day, and comfort those who might be having a tough time. I am even known to pose for a picture or two.
The people in the Eagle Point School District 9 have been very caring, welcoming, and gentle to me. I believe it reflects the true character of the people in this district. I have quickly built relationships through respectful interactions with kids and adults, and I can't wait to build more.
I like coming to work because of how well I'm treated every day. Look for me and my handler Eric Thomas, walking around the district. If you have the time and you feel comfortable, I encourage you to ask Eric, “Can I pet Jasper?”
If you have questions about me, please contact my handler Eric Thomas at thomase@eaglepnt.k12.or.us
Sincerely,
~ Jasper
