Louisburg,
It doesn't seem like the year should be over, but here we are, the last Weekly Message. For some of you, it is the last Weekly Message ever, your youngest done with school. For most of you, it's just the last one of the year. To those that are done, thanks for all of the support that you gave Louisburg over the years, and to those that remain, we know that we still have a lot of unanswered questions about our future, but we will get through it. To all of you, even though it probably doesn't seem like a normal summer break, I hope that it is relaxing for you, and I hope that we come back with all of the answers that we all want to hear.
Though it is the last message, I will still shoot important updates when they come along.

Weekly Shout Outs and Other Things You Should Know (FAQs at the Bottom)
GRADUATION UPDATES AND IMPORTANT DATES LEADING TO GRADUATION
On Friday, Governor Kelly announced an updated version of her plan to open up Kansas. Unfortunately, it affects our proposed date for Graduation, and we are now having to fall back on our backup date of Saturday, July 25th at 10:00am. Again, this would be a traditional ceremony. I will keep everyone as up to date as possible on any changes, and, yes, there are alternative graduation plans that are being discussed.
JOSTENS INSERTS (Updated) Glad I didn't order them yet.
Jostens has said that they will reprint the inserts for Graduation, but they really want a hard date. I am waiting until July 1st to tell them to reprint. I know that there are a lot of people that want to get invitations out. Jostens did provide a site where you can print your own. Here is that link:

SENIOR BREAKFAST AND GRADUATION REHEARSAL
Chris Cakes will be at the school at 7:30 on Friday, July 24th to start the Senior Breakfast. This is such a fun tradition to have all of the parents come together with their senior for one final meal at the school. It’s a great time, and I hope to see every senior there before the Graduation Rehearsal.
Graduation Rehearsal will take place after the breakfast. The target starting time is 9:00. Every student that is walking during Graduation must attend the rehearsal. This is how we know how many seats to prepare and how to get the proper alignment for walking.

GOODBYES AND HELLOS
1. Mr. Scott Hinkle will be leaving us for the middle school. He will be performing the same duties as the Assistant Principal/ Athletic Director that he did here. He will still be around.
2. Mrs. Jillian Butts, our FACS teacher, leaves us after only a year. She gave birth to her first child (son Billy) in April. She is lucky enough to get to stay home with him. She hinted that she may even get to come back and sub here in Louisburg on days that her mom may watch her little one. Good luck, Mrs. Butts.
3. Ms. Shea Smith, our physics and chemistry teacher, will be leaving us as well. She is at a point in her life where she is able to travel and move to different locations. She is looking at options ranging from both coasts to out of the country. Good luck to Ms. Smith, and I can't wait to hear back from her adventures in the world.
We will get to say, "Hello, and welcome to the Wildcat Way," to several new staff members.
1. Mr. Michael Pickman. Okay, it's not really hello, but it is a new gig as Mr. Pickman takes over as the Assitant Principal and Athletic Director. Technically, he's not on the job until July, but, he's on the job. I can't wait to see what all he will do, and I look forward to many years with Mr. Pickman with me in the office.
2. Mr. Jordan Roquemore will be coming to us from Lawrence Free State. Someone had to replace Mr. Pickman. Mr. Roquemore will be taking on several new responsibilities here in Louisburg. He will be an English teacher, the Yearbook teacher, and he is also replacing Mr. Pickman as the girls' assistant soccer coach. He and his family are moving just across the border in small, Westline. He will be less than 5 miles away from the school, and hopefully his own kids will grow up Wildcats!
3. Mr. Rich Lane will be taking over in the science classroom. Mr. Lane and his family live right here in Louisburg. As a teacher, he comes to us from Olathe, but he also taught and coached for several years in California. Mr. Lane will probably help out with football as well, and I know that he is going to be a relationship builder. He will be teaching physics, chemistry, and astronomy. In the small amount of time that I have gotten to know him, I am so excited by his excitement in being here in Louisburg.
4. Ms. Eliza Maloney will be taking over a few positions. Ms. Maloney will be one of two teachers that we will be adding to the staff for FACS. Ms. Maloney will be the primary Culinary teacher, and she will also be taking over as the Jazzy CATS Coach and Instructor. The Jazzy Cats istructor has an hour with the girls and the band. Ms. Maloney has been teaching FACS in Raymore-Peculiar, but has always wanted to come to Louisburg where her cousins grew up. Her aunt, Ms. Mary Reno, has been a third grade teacher for many years here in Louisburg.
5. Ms. Marissa Armstrong will be another FACS addition. Ms. Armstorng will be the primary early childhood teacher, and she will be taking Career and Life Planning back from the business classrooms, helping a thankful Mrs. Lane with her own course load. Ms. Armstrong will also be taking over as the FCCLA sponsor. She currently teaches FACS at La Monte, in Missouri, where she is the FCCLA sponsor and head Cheerleading Coach. She and Ms. Maloney know each other, and she clued me in about Ms. Maloney's dance background. They are going to be a great pair!
A FEW, QUICK, FINAL SHOUTOUTS
Shout out to Mr. Pickman for putting everything in the videos together.
Shout out to Barbara Smith whose composites on those signs were beautiful.
Shout out to all of those that helped put those signs up and all of those that showed up to support our students over the past few weeks.
Shout out to Mr. Topher Philgreen. The man behind the sights and sounds sees his youngest child finish out her career in 2020. As I've said before, we need to get him an exchange student every year so that he can stay involved with our school. Hopefully, that won't be necessary, but thanks for all you have done.
Shout out to Dr. Damon Dennis for all of the years that he committed to Louisburg students. No one will probably ever know how much Doc D has done for Louisburg out of the kindness and love in his heart. If there was a Louisburg "Rushmore," he would be on it. It still doesn't quite seem real that he won't be back.
Shout out to Mr. Andy Brown of the Louisburg Sports Zone. His loyalty and dedication to our community and our student-atlhetes is unwavering. He covers Louisburg sports like the true professional that he is, and he tremendouly helped soften the blow that our senior athletes were given. Looking forward to many more years working together with the Sports Zone.

2020 Senior Spotlight: Mackenzie Scholtz
Mackenzie Scholtz will go down as the most decorated girls soccer player in school history, but while all that is great, what Scholtz really wanted was one more crack at a state title. Still, Scholtz is thankful for all she accomplished with the Wildcats. .
Varns Signs with Sain Marys of the Woods for Golf!
On what was supposed to be his graduation day, Louisburg senior Drake Varns decided to have another celebration instead. Varns signed his letter of intent at home, with family and friends, to play golf at Saint Mary of the Woods College, an NAIA program in Indiana. Congrats Drake!
2020 Senior Spotlight: Garrett Harding
Baseball had been the sport of choice for Garrett Harding for several years, but in his final year of high school, he wanted a new challenge and decided to give track a chance. Although the season was ultimately cancelled, he enjoyed his time with the team.
2020 Senior Spotlight: Madden Rutherford
Madden Rutherford was ready to have his best season yet for the Wildcats. The 2-time all-league player returned as the No. 1 starter and he was excited for what was in store. Despite a cancelled season,
is looking ahead to a busy baseball future.
THANK YOU ANDY BROWN!
2020 Senior Spotlight: Lily McDaniel
Even as a senior, Lily McDaniel's opportunity with the Louisburg girls soccer program was just getting started. After suffering two season-ending injuries her freshman and sophomore years, McDaniel bounced back in a big way as a junior.
2020 Senior Spotlight: Reilly Ratliff-Becher
Reilly Ratliff-Becher had all the confidence that it was going to be a special year for Louisburg softball and the 7 Lady Cat seniors. Although the season was cancelled, her favorite memory came before it ever had a chance to get off the ground.Click Here for the full story.
A Fitting Twilight Tribute to the Class of 2020
Buses honor LHS Class of 2020!
I was thinking about the senior class one last time this weekend. I was reflecting back to when I first came to Louisburg. It was the school year 2001-2002, 18 years ago. The overwhelming majority of these students were born in that first school year that I was here. Think back parents. You know that the class of 2002 remembered September 11th happening that year. I would argue that it was the last global news story that was of the magnitude of what we are experiencing now. I feel like September 11th, though a tradgedy, brought people together, and I can only imagine that those young babies benefitted from the love and support that they got way back during that time. They were a great class to teach, a great class to principal, a class full of school spirit, a class that was close to each other. There is perseverance built into them, and if any class was built to overcome the situation that was thrust upon them, it's them. As their lives began with September 11th and their Graduation year ends early due to Covid, they are truly a unique class that seems to be fatefully interwined with history. Needless to say, for all that was lost, I will never forget the names and faces of the Class of 2020!
Until next year,
Jeremy Holloway
