IMPORTANT NEWS: RE-ENROLLMENT DETAILS PROVIDED
BISHOP SCHOLARSHIP FUND/TUITION ASSISTANCE
Applications for the Bishop's Scholarship Fund are now available! Please email Melissa Mathew at mbmathew@iccschool.org to request an application.
Please note, if you already have an existing FACTS account, you do not need to create a new one. You can add ICCS to your account using the registration link provided in the email.
FACTS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Q: I already have a FACTS account set up with another school. Do I need to set up a different account for ICCS?
A: No. Using the link we provided in the re-enrollment information email, you can choose to log in to your existing account and simply add ICCS to your account.
Q: If I already have a FACTS account will have to pay the annual fee?
A: Yes, FACTS accesses a fee for every school account you have set up.
Q: I have multiple students. Can I set up multiple bank/credit card accounts to draft from?
A: Yes. Parents will need to create a new payment plan for each student needing separate banking/credit card accounts.
Q: I have multiple students. How will the multi-student discount be applied?
A: Once families have created their accounts and signed up for their payment plan, ICCS staff will go in and assign a yearly dollar amount to every student listed. So families with more one student will have their yearly tuition divided out equally among all their students.
Q: I am requesting subsidy from my pastor. How and when will my monthly rate be updated to reflect the new amount?
A: The Parish Verification Form is due to ICCS no later than Friday, February 8. Once this form is received, the ICCS staff will update your tuition amount in the system. Parents will be able to see this change immediately.

ASPIRE TESTING UPDATE:
For the past five years, the schools of the Diocese of Lake Charles have participated in ACT Aspire standardized testing for all 3rd-8th grade students. Throughout this time, Immaculate Conception Cathedral School has consistently scored above national average, with grade level scaled scores showing continued growth year over year. We commend our hard working teachers and students for this ongoing accomplishment. Heading into the sixth year of Aspire testing, we continue to focus our efforts on maximizing student growth and increasing the gap between ICCS and the national average.
It is easy to see that our classrooms are acclimated to the standards and testing methods of current day education practices, but changes do continue, especially in regards to technology. Computer based testing is quickly becoming more and more the “norm” rather than the exception, even in younger grade levels. With the threat of paper based testing eventually becoming obsolete, schools are being encouraged to move towards computer based standardized testing.
While the students of ICCS certainly demonstrate a high level of achievement on computer based assessments such as Accelerated Reader and Renaissance Math. ASPIRE standardized tests are lengthier assessments and incorporate multiple question types including constructed response and selected response questions utilizing information interpreted from charts, diagrams, and literary excerpts. Therefore, it will be important for our students to be comfortable with not only the information being tested, but also with the testing format, with their computer, and with their typing skills.
We will begin working to ensure students of the Cathedral School are prepared to take computer based tests with the same diligence and effort they use for paper based tests. During the coming weeks, teachers will be administering interim and practice tests in the classrooms. Testing outcomes and strategies, both paper based and computer based, will be discussed with students, similar to the SAT practice testing sessions used in our classrooms before the switch to the Aspire test. This process will help us best determine which grade levels may be ready for computer based tests.
The actual summative ACT Aspire testing will take place in the first weeks of April. More information will be provided as we approach that time frame, with multiple reminders of the importance of rest, eating a good breakfast, etc. In the meantime, if your student speaks of Aspire testing at home, encourage them to do their best, but do not panic if the morning could have gone smoother or their breakfast could have been healthier ………. we’re just practicing at this time!
