News of the Week
March 7-11
Dear Parents,
Each week, please see below for the skills our class will be studying. Anything that you can do to support them at home is appreciated! You may notice that we spend more than one week on particular skills as they are meant to take longer than one week to cover in class.
- Mrs. Williams
Important Reminders!
- We had a great time on Read Across America Day! See below for pictures of our reading and eating green eggs & ham!!
- STEM Day today was also a blast- the kids built wind-powered vehicles! I included some photos and video clips of that below as well! We read a great book, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind, to go with our STEM day. Additionally, I am sending a template to make a pinwheel at home if you wish to talk further about wind-power. Here is the link to the directions: http://buggyandbuddy.com/paper-helicopter-pinwheel-with-free-template
- Please find an interesting rock outside somewhere and bring it to school on Monday for our science investigation!
- I will begin assessments on Monday and will plan to finish them by Thursday. Because I will be pulling kids one-on-one, we will be having our center time back in the afternoons next week to allow me time to assess them while the other students are engaged in something independent.
- Please try to make sure there is at least one snack sent in each day with your child. Maybe it could be their special job to remember to pack that each evening. Also, many of them have been bringing candy as their snack these days; I told them that I won't be letting them eat that for a snack as of Monday. =)
- There is no school on Friday, March 11th.
- We will be sending home information for our SECOND field trip of the year next Thursday, so please be aware that is coming up soon! If you have not signed up for/paid for the first field trip yet, please see below.
- Don't forget to log-on to My Payments Plus to pay for our March 21st field trip, the cost is $14 and the online payment option will end on Thursday, March 10th. If you need a paper copy instead, please e-mail me.
