Lambs Ledger

November 2021

Message from the Principal, Jamie McCarthy

This month you will be asked by your student's teacher to attend a data conference. These conferences are extremely important. At the conference your teacher will discuss assessment scores and you will learn your student's readiness level. The elementary school years truly set the stage for future success. We must put an emphasis on the importance of education and build a strong foundation. I implore you to ask questions and gain a greater understanding of what you can do at home to foster a love of learning for your child. Together, we must do all we can to provide the best opportunity we can for our future.

I want to take a moment to thank you all for continuing to support our school and staff as we continue to battle this pandemic. Our nurse, Kathy Gilmour has been an instrumental part of our processes and I appreciate your kindness, understanding, and appreciation as we do everything we can do keep your children safe.

Charleston Can Code

We are proud to share that we have been selected to be part of the Charleston Can Code initiative. We will be collaborating with Joint Base Charleston, Apple, and other local organizations in the community to teach our students how to code! Students in Ms. Bailey, Mr. Feltman, Ms. Forsberg, and Ms. Solari's class will lead this work and learn directly from Apple all year long. They will focus on the four main skills that define the Future of Learning; connection, personalization, creativity, and collaboration. We will use ipads and the Apple designed program Swift Playground to capitalize on the early fundamentals of programming. This is a wonderful opportunity that we seek to expand as we move forward!
