Support the PTA’s Gift Card Drive for Teachers
The WLE PTA is holding a gift card drive in support of Teacher Appreciation Week, which will be celebrated April 17th-21st. Help show your child’s teacher how much he or she is appreciated by donating a gift card. Any amount is appreciated, but please be sure the gift card can be used locally.
Please send donations to school in a sealed envelope with “PTA Teacher Appreciation” written on the outside, and have your child give the envelope to his or her teacher. You can also donate money toward gift cards through hipchip.com at the following link: http://bit.ly/2mXnlG5. Your donation will go into a pool for WLES teachers.
Please contact Kathleen Pisors at (248) 794-3712 or Lisa Barile at (813) 482-1169 with any questions.
Volunteers Needed for Teacher Appreciation Week
Throughout Teacher Appreciation Week (April 17th-21st), the WLE PTA will provide breakfast and lunch for staff. Parent volunteers are needed each day to assist with decorating, set up, food prep, and clean up. Please visit http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c044ba5a82fa20-teacher1 to volunteer!
Mark Your Calendar for Wallypalooza!
Please plan to join the WLE PTA from 5:30-8 p.m. Friday, April 21st, for an evening of fun as we raise funds for our school! Activities will include carnival games, face painting, fairy hair, an obstacle course, a basketball inflatable, and the Carolina Hurricanes slap shot booth.
You also can take a chance at our basket raffle, featuring two dozen themed baskets, and we’re bringing back our silent auction with lots of great items to bid on! Grab some dinner, with choices of hot dogs, pizza, subs, salads, and soft serve ice cream.
Admission to Wallypalooza is free, but tickets are needed for the basket raffle, some games and activities, and food. Tickets are $1 apiece and can be purchased with cash or check made payable to the WLE PTA. They will be available in advance from 1:45 to 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 18th, through Friday, April 21st, in carpool, and in the front office. Tickets also will be available at Wallypalooza. Hope to see you there!
EOG Proctors Needed!!!
Parent volunteers are needed to help proctor end-of-grade (EOG) tests June 19-23. Volunteers must arrive at the school by 7:30 a.m. on their designated testing day (testing starts at 7:45) and remain until testing is completed (approximately 2-4 hours). Additionally, proctors must attend a training session; these sessions will take place in late April and early May. To sign-up, please visit http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c044ba5a82fa20-eogproctors.
Having parent volunteers is a great help because it allows our school to avoid combining classrooms for testing and pulling in K-2 teachers to test. It also helps our school complete testing in a timely manner. PLEASE NOTE: To sign up as a proctor, parents must already have a volunteer badge or come in to the school to register as a volunteer by early April.
Order Your Yearbook Now
The WLE PTA is no longer taking yearbook orders online, but you can still purchase a yearbook for $15 by cash or check (made out to the WLE PTA). Just return your payment in the yearbook envelope that was provided to your child’s classroom teacher, or place it in any envelope addressed to “Yearbook Committee” with the following information on the front: your child’s name, his or her teacher's name, and his or her track and grade.
