The Ritenour Review
2016 - 2017 Third Grade Weekly News
Last Week
We are back to a (mostly) normal schedule! We all needed routine back into our day.
Last week:
Reading: We worked on keeping our research information organized in our notebooks. I love how excited the kids are during reading daily, and their notes looked just as excited! We worked on keeping our subtopics clearly stated and keeping the supporting details near those titles. We used the organizational strategy of Boxes and Bullets. My, oh my, those notes look good now!
Math: We worked hard on measuring to the nearest 1/4 in. Several were doing well with this small measurement and even wanted to measure to the nearest 1/8 and 1/16!
Language: We worked on subject and object pronouns. This is a tricky one! We will keep working on the difference.
Writing: We are in the final stretch of our Persuasive Speeches! The kids started putting their speeches into five(or more) paragraphs.
Next Week
Language Arts: We need to extend our plant research into a few more days. We are having fun, so I am okay with spending more time to dive into more details and reading skills.
Math: Unit 8: We will work hard on extending facts this week.
Word Study: We will have spelling groups again this week. We will test on Friday.
Science: Simple Machines and Rube Goldberg! I will send a letter home tomorrow to explain this in more detail.
NWEA: We will take our spring NWEA sessions this Thursday, Friday and the following Monday.
