Get Whitt it!
we rise by lifting others
7/30/20
This is to help eliminate extra emails throughout the week and will include info from our entire office staff.
a note from Dr. Vinson
SMILE FOR THE CAMERA...AT A SOCIAL DISTANCE =-)
I am so sorry folks have tagged me in emails complaining about social distancing and face masks in photos or meetings. Please remind your folks that all photos need to be at a social distance, wearing a mask. THIS is also...the Wylie Way!
Part of our PD week
Backstory: We've done some enneagram work in teh past with team leaders, which lent itself to teams seeking more adn taking iton.
Because our PD time looks so different and we can't go somewhere as we traditionally have fone, we wanted to keep SOME pieces the same and that includes growing us as individuals and as teams. Mrs. Jennifer Green will be here to do just that!
You will need to know your enneagram number. As an expert, she would tell you that taking a test is not the most accurate way of going about finding your number but we're going to combine that with some additional readings to do our very best for you to find your number. We'll talk more about it Monday, but you can start by taking the test here:
https://www.truity.com/test/enneagram-personality-test
You won't need to "unlock" as we'll be diving deeper into your match...you can also read more about each number here.
Face covering's for staff member
We have had some questions about staff members wearing face shields, masks or both. Amy Hillin received information from the CDC (Center for Disease Control) that stated masks were the best protection against disease transmission. The CDC also stated that face shields are not as effective in preventing the transmission of air droplets and recommends that, if used, a mask is worn as well. This is the best practice provided by the CDC.
Furniture in Rooms
- Please make sure to remove all extraneous furniture from your classrooms at this time. We need the extra space to spread the students out as much as possible. Extras need to be labeled clearly and stored on the stage until we can hopefully add them back into your rooms! This includes but is not limited to: bean bags/flexible seating, extra shelves, extra tables used for storage
- As of now you can keep your kidney tables, but if something changes with that we will let you know!
- Plexiglass- Please do not build or use any plexiglass dividers, per Scott Winn in the Super Brief. If you have any questions about what he stated there, let us know! (comes out today!)
Wylie Care kits
We have received most of our Personal Protective Equipment(PPE) allocation from TEA but there are still a couple of items that have not been delivered. The Wylie Care Kits will not be ready by August 3rd like we had hoped but we are optimistic they will be delivered to campuses by August 10th. The Care Kits will include a supply of disposable masks, a face shield, supply of gloves, a supply of reusable masks, a water bottle and a bottle of disinfectant spray. A 1-gallon container of hand sanitizer will be placed in the classrooms for each teacher. Below is a sample of the Wylie Care Kits.
Remote Meetings
- Some of our staff will be remote teachers for medical reasons and some because they were chosen. Those that have medical reasons will not be able to attend "in-person meetings" for any reason, but they WILL attend virtually via Google Meets. Those that were chosen WILL attend in-person meetings.
- These meetings include: PLC's, team lead and PLC lead meetings, staff meetings, etc. We will of course abide by guidelines such as social distancing and face coverings that are set by the district/state.
- Please work within your team to establish who cannot attend so that your team is aware. Kristin will send out links for Google Meets meetings. We will likely try to use the same link each time to keep it simple.
It is SUPER important for us to keep things as normal as they can possibly be. This is why we will continue face-to-face meetings. We want to continue to maintain and build our intrapersonal relationships as much as we can!

The Counselor's Corner
I am so excited to see you in person again!! As we are starting the upcoming school year, we will be experiencing so many changes. Like any school year, we are all going to experience moments where we feel triumphant and then there will be times we need extra motivation. This year we are going to have to focus on self-care more than ever!! Find what truly helps you to relax and regroup! Some of mine are exercise, spa treatments, talking with my person, reading, and a Blizzard from DQ. Along with self-reflection, we are also going to have to check in on each other. We all need a check-in from a friend! I may not have the snacky snacks, but I will always have a listening ear along with Amber and Morgan. We will get through this together because #weareWhitt!!!
