MESSAGE FROM MR. COLLINS, PRINCIPAL
On September 5, two areas of the handbook were updated: 1) Conduct for Middle
grades, and 2) Academic Retention policy. Please contact Mr. Collins if you have any questions.
Construction on the parking lot continues to progress towards completion. We are hopeful that all will be completed within 10 days.
We will begin contacting those who have been invited to sit on our School Advisory Board. Thank you to everyone who applied. Names will be announced after all have been contacted.
Students are in the process of completing our Star Reading Assessment in grades 2-7. Remember, Reading was our lowest scoring area on the ACTAspire last year. I will provide more information regarding the ACTAspire scores at our Parent Association Meeting on Tuesday evening at 7:00 in the Gym. Mark your calendars.
Individual School Pictures
Pre K students will take their pictures on Friday, September 13th. Life Touch printed the wrong date on the order forms. It is Friday, September 13th.
Forms went home this past week. Students are to wear their school uniforms as these will be their yearbook pictures.
HEART TO HEART PROGRAM
Good news!
This year, we are continuing the "Heart-to-Heart" program as an opportunity for students to reach out, in love, to each other, their families, their community, and the world. If you recall, the program is simple: Each month has a special theme (for example: October is "Respect Life" month).
Through the goodness of their own hearts, students partake in some act of charity, as a sign of Christ's love (e.g. spiritually adopt an unborn baby and pray a Hail Mary for them, each night, for the month of October). This is a very personal program, and one which empowers the students in their Christian walk. As an outward expression of their charity, participating students will decorate and sign a special heart, which they will then bring to the first School Mass of each month.
For more information, and for all the forms (and heart cutouts), please check your e-mail this weekend for more information. Thank you, in advance, for your participation and support, and God bless to all!
In Christ,
Scott Osborn
Religious Activities Coordinator
P.S.: On the last page of the "Heart to Heart Program" handout, there is a page of heart cutouts. To convert the pdf to jpeg, so you can adjust the size of the heart, simply go to a website like: http://pdf2jpg.net/. If you would like a Word version of the handout, please let me know, and I'll be glad to send you one. God bless!
ARCHIDIOCESAN EVENING OF CONFESSION
It is our archdiocesan tradition to offer the Sacrament of Reconciliation , better known as confession, on a weekday evening near the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross. I am pleased to inform you that many people in the Archdiocese of New Orleans have taken advantage of this opportunity.
This year confessions will be available in all Catholic churches in the Archdiocese of New Orleans on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 from 5:00PM – 6:30PM. Please consider taking advantage of this opportunity to invite the healing Christ into your heart with his promise of mercy.
Pope Francis has reminded us that God never tires of forgiving us. Perhaps we grow tired of asking for forgiveness. Pope Francis said, “Confession is the passage from misery to mercy ... This is the heart of Confession: not the sins we declare, but t he divine love we receive, of which we are ever in need. The confessional is a place of mercy. ”
Please consider having your family come to church together for Confession on Wednesday, September 11.
Wishing you God’s blessings, I am,
Sincerely in Christ,
Most Reverend Gregory Aymond
Archbishop of New Orleans
