Starting Strong!
Parents/Guardians,
We have had a fast start to the school year. Every year seems to be a little bit of a whirlwind to start the year while everyone gets used to new schedules and adjustments. As we hit October, most of those things are ironed out and we are in the groove.
Students have finished up their Fall FAST testing and those scores are coming home. We have seen a lot of celebrations and some growth areas for our building. Teachers begin this work immediately after testing to ensure they are meeting the needs of all students all the time. Large group instruction, small group instruction, and 1:1 interventions are all implemented and adjusted according the needs identified from these assessments. Please contact your child's teacher if you have any questions after receiving your child's assessment scores.
We will have Parent-Teacher Conferences in November. PT Conferences will be in person this year. Conference sign-ups will be sent out in the coming weeks and you will sign-up online as you have in the past. Conferences are scheduled for Thursday, November 4, and Monday, November 8.
Cold Weather Gear
Believe it or not the weather will begin to get cooler. As the weather begins to get cooler please keep in mind that students MUST wear a coat outside to recess when the temperature falls below 50 degrees (with windchill).
Take Care,
Chad

RIF Day is ... Soon
The books are ordered and we're excited to distribute them, but we're not quite sure when they'll arrive. Scholastic is dealing with shipping delays, but once we know they're on the way we'll set the date and let you know. We are hoping for mid to late October. Stay tuned!
Reading is Fundamental (RIF) is the nation’s largest children’s literacy non-profit. On RIF Day, every elementary student gets to pick a free book to keep. RIF Day is sponsored by Collins-Maxwell Partners in Education, and we want to thank Key Cooperative and Land O’Lakes for the grants they awarded us to purchase the books!
RIF is organized and supported by Collins-Maxwell PIE (Partners in Education).

Scholastic Book Fair is Coming!
We’re excited to invite you to our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair. Hosted by our staff, this event is an opportunity for students of all ages to build their home libraries and further their love of reading. As always, all purchases benefit our school.
After missing out on many beloved traditions, our fall Book Fair will be a familiar, welcome, and safe event for our students. Here’s what you need to know about the Fair, which will take place from November 2-9, 2021 at Collins-Maxwell Elementary.
- Our Book Fair offers a cash-free payment option called eWallet. It’s a convenient digital account that your child can use for shopping at our Fair. Grandparents, friends, and others can contribute, too!
- If you can’t make it to the Fair, then shop online at our school’s Virtual Book Fair. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also benefit our school.

We’re excited to celebrate our love of books together at the Book Fair. We look forward to seeing your child there!
