Iran/Contra Affair- Was a political scandal in the united states that occurred during the second term of the Reagan Administration. The scandal began as an operation to free the seven American hostages being held in Lebanon by a group with Iranian ties connected to the Army of the Guardians of Islamic Revolution.
USS Vincennes- CG-49 was a Ticonderoga class Aegis Guided Missle Cruiser in service with the United Staes navy from July 1985 to June 2005. Vincennes shot down an Iranian Civilian passenger jetliner, Iran Air Flight 655, over the Persian Gulf on July 3rd 1988, killing all 290 civilans on board including 38 non-Iranians and 66 children.
Space Shuttle Challenger- Was the second orbiter of NASA'S space shuttle program to be put into service following Columbia. The shuttle was built by Rockwell International's Space Transportation systems Division in Downey, California.
Fall of the Berlin Wall- Was a barrier that divided Berlin from 1961 to 1989 constructed by the German Democratic Republic. The fall of the wall was on November 9,1989 as the Cold War began to thaw across Eastern Europe. Starting at midnight that day citizens of GDR were free to cross the country's boarders.
90's Culture- The 90's culture had many great things to it. They came up with so many movements such as grunge, hip hop spread around the world to young people during the decade, they had createds new technology such as cable television and World Wide Web, and even the cell phones.
Bill Clinton Impeachment- Bill Clinton was the 42nd President of the United States, he was impeached by the House of Representatives on 2 charges. One of the perjury and the other one of the obstruction of Justice, on December 19, 1998. He was charged for abuse of power for lying under oath. He had been the 1st persident to be impeached and had it failed and still was president.
Dotcoms- Company that does most of its business on the internet, it was usually through a website that uses the popular top-level domain. The dotcoms was the world by storm in the late 90s, rising faster than any industry in recent memory. The fact that most internet companies were losing money at alarming rates, they were given huge valuations on the stock market,but it didn't last for long.
