I have been working hard to provide opportunities for students to make money to offset the cost of choir expenses. September 25th I offered a 59-minute fundraiser with Great American Opportunities. Students sold 107 items in 59 minutes and over 40 students participated by turning in hard copies of orders. I don't know the results yet as to how many students participated in online sales. The hard copy orders were mailed Friday, October 20th so our products are estimated to arrive the week of November 20th.
September 30th Kayloni Terance-Parker, Kendall Dezember, Katie Albertine, Alyssa Vongphachanh, Jacob Her, Andrew Bake, and Jeremiah Quinteros attended the 30th annual Choral Leadership Workshop held at Willamette University directed by Dr. Wallace Long.
October 11th Markus Cadiz, Anna Culver, Kendall Dezember, and Jeremiah Quinteros participated in the 2nd annual Choral fx with conductors, Ethan Sperry and Bruce Browne. The students were able to observe Portland State University Chamber Choir, Portland Repertory Singers, and they performed the four songs they learned that afternoon. Schools that participated in the event include Aloha, Century, David Douglas, Evergreen, Gresham, Heritage, Oregon City, Rex Putnam, Reynolds, Sam Barlow Southridge, Union, West Linn, and Wilson.
Thank you to everyone who participated in our Homecoming celebration by singing the National Anthem at our assembly and football game. Many people asked that I pass along to the choir how lovely they sounded. Also, we had some students make their way to the choir room inquiring how to become members of the choir. KUDOS!!!
Our choir rummage sale made approximately $600. ( Deductions due to overhead cost include: Advertising $97, Truck rental $108, and packing supplies $77.) Thank you to all who participated and made our rummage sale a success. I am very grateful to the Hillsboro Elk's Lodge for making this event possible for our department.
Please keep your eye on your e-mail for sign-up genius as we often need chaperones and donations to make our field trips and events successful.
Thank you all for your support of our musicians that sing! I hope to see you all at our concert.
Sincerely,
Mary Kay Babcock

Treble Maker Gown Payment Due Wednesday October 25th
Treble Maker gowns have arrived and alterations should be complete by Monday, October 23rd.
Treble Maker performance shoes arrived last Friday. Students have no obligation to purchase shoes unless they wish to keep them. If your students choose to purchase their shoes they cost $19.95/pair.
Our choir treasurer will be e-mailing students the amount they will owe for their gowns and alterations. Please make checks payable to CHS Choirs. Students may make payments at any time by placing their check or cash deposit in an envelope and deposit their payment in the silver lock-box in the choir room.
When making a deposit students need to be sure their envelope is labeled with their first and last name, what they are paying for, and the amount that is in the envelope. This helps our treasurer keep bookkeeping organized.
The pricing for the gowns are as follows:
Size 0-16 $80 plus $13 hemming fee = $93.00
Size 18 and up is $90 plus $13 hemming fee = $103.00
Payments are due before our first concert October 25th.
