Finally, a special shout out to Meagan Solomon and Deb Bishop for really going the extra mile to try new technology in the classroom! Meagan has been working to use padlet as a back channel for questioning and quick checks, and Deb Bishop has been going out of her way to delve into the depths of GAFE in new ways. Thank you for making the effort to innovate for the sake of student learning!
Huggins Highlights
Grades are due Monday night at 11:59pm, so make sure everything is good to go before then! Remember, Skyward itself is pulling the grade records, so there is no wiggle room like there was when I determined the export time last year...but the good news is that you have the evening instead of exporting before 7th period is over.

"How can you get very far If you don't know who you are? How can you know what you ought If you don't know what you've got? And if you don't know which to do Of all the things in front of you, Then what you'll have when you are through Is just a mess without a clue Of all the best that can come true When you know What and Which and Who."- Benjamin Hoff, The Tao of Pooh

How many years have you been in education?
This is my 7th year
Where are you from?
Dallas, TX
What is your most heartwarming teacher-student moment?
Last year I had a student who was regularly in ISS and it was like pulling teeth getting him to do any work. One day, he showed up in my Den but I hadn't given him a pass to come see me. I noticed him quietly working at my back table, not bothering anyone. I asked him why he was in my room, where he was supposed to be, and honestly, I kind of fussed at him. He looked up at me and said, "Because I work better with you." That day I learned that, as a teacher, I could teach anyone. However, if I truly wanted my students to have a desire to learn and succeed, I would have to form relationships with them and earn their trust.
Who is your hero?
My cousin is my hero because she's battled breast cancer twice, as well as endured the deaths of two of her children, yet she remains the most positive and faith-filled person I know.
What is the scariest thing you have ever done?
Parasailing over shark infested waters
Do you have a childhood nickname?
Until I was about 2 years old I only had fuzz for hair so my parents called me "Peeps" (like a baby chick) and it forever stuck.
If you were any object from your living room, what would it be?
I would have to say my coffee table because, at any given point in the day, it's usually holding at least one of three of my favorite things: food, coffee, and books.
