The Leader in Me
This month we think about Habit 6 'Synergize'.
Principal's Message
Last week we celebrated School Administrative and Support Staff (SASS) Recognition Week. Our SASS team is made up of our office and library staff, school learning support officers, general assistant and community liaison officer. Unfortunately we were unable to host a morning tea to say thank you to our wonderful team. Instead we thanked them with a box of goodies to recognise the outstanding work the team do to support our teaching staff and students.
On Tuesday we participated in external validation. This process occurs once every four years and is an opportunity for the school to meet with peer principals from other schools to discuss our self-evaluation. Leading up to the meeting, all staff were involved in a process of creating a submission that highlights how our school works towards excellence as outlined the School Excellence Framework. It is pleasing that our panel agreed with the evidence we provided to justify our self-assessment against the fourteen elements below.
All parents and carers have been notified of our annual Tell Them From Me survey. This is an ideal opportunity for parents and carers to provide valuable feedback to the school. This information helps us to refine existing school programs or look for new opportunities to ensure we are working collectively to support our students’ learning. If you do not have access to a device at home to complete the survey we have created an outdoor survey space where assistance is available to complete the survey on mobile phones. The survey closes on Friday 25 September and I ask all parents and carers to take the time to complete it.
In the last newsletter I mentioned I would be taking a more active interest in school uniform. Our current focus is on the wearing of school hats and I am pleased to mention that almost every single student is now wearing a hat. Please remember that our uniform requires the wearing of red school hats with our logo. These are available from the uniform shop. Parents and carers can contact the office if assistance is required to purchase one.
As the weather begins to warm up I remind parents and carers that as part of our response to Covid19, the drinking fountains in the playground have been turned off. Students are required to bring a water bottle to school each day which can be filled from taps in classrooms. Please ensure your child has a bottle with them each day. Remember that no glass bottles are permitted.
Finally, I wish all our dads a fantastic Father’s Day this Sunday. I am sure your children have something planned to make the day a wonderful one!
Yours Sincerely
Mr Tapuska
Road Safety Alert
Our school crossing supervisor will be away for the next two weeks. Unfortunately Transport for NSW are unable to provide a replacement.
This means our community will need to take extra care when crossing the road in the morning and afternoon. Please be aware that school staff are not permitted to supervise the crossing.
Have you seen these notes and when are they due?
From the Deputy Principals - Mrs Alfaro and Mrs Vajdevski
Fruit and Veg Month is here!
Fruit and Veg month is held from Monday 31 August to Friday 25 September. The theme for this year’s event is Planet Fruit & Veg! It’s all about exploring the world of fruits and vegetables through the lens of sustainability. Please encourage your children to eats lots of healthy fruits and vegetables.
Celebrating SAS Staff Recognition Week
Last week was SASS (School Administrative and Support Staff) Appreciation Week.
Our school admin and support staff play an enormous role in our school community. They are often the first people to talk to when you call the school, the first people you see when you walk through the doors at LPS and are essential to maintaining positive relationships with students, parents and the community.
They are dedicated and hard working people ensuring the children, teachers and our families are extremely well supported throughout the school day. We could not function without them and we thank them for all they do for our staff, students and parent/carer community.
Water Bottles
Please ensure your child brings a water bottle to school each day as our bubblers have been turned off due to COVID restrictions. The temperature is starting to warm up and students will need to keep hydrated throughout the day.
School Uniforms
Please ensure your child comes to school each day in full school uniform. This includes black school shoes, red school jumper and red school hat.
We are currently monitoring that all students are wearing a red school hat before and after school, recess and lunch time. If your child is not wearing a red school hat in the morning, recess or lunch time they will be required to sit under the COLA area in the shade.
School Starts at 8:55am
A reminder that school starts at 8:55am each day. We have noticed that we have an extremely high number of late arrivals and ask that you try to be more punctual in the mornings. Habitual lateness is monitored by the school in conjunction with the Home School Liaison Officer.
Please ensure to be on time each day to ensure your child does not miss out on the introductory part of the morning lesson.
Happy Father's Day
We would like to wish all fathers a Happy Father's Day for Sunday. We hope you love your gift purchased from our Fathers Day stall and enjoy some family time.
Multicultural Day
Unfortunately due to COVID restrictions we were unable to have a lovely multicultural lunch, however we continued to celebrate the cultural diversity of our school community. All classes have been involved in multicultural day activities throughout weeks 5 and 6 which has been represented in a beautiful display in our community room Liverpool Central. Each child received a paper hand cutout and were asked to decorate it by representing their cultural background. We have created a video for our school community to view.
Thanking you
Mrs Alfaro and Mrs Vajdevski

Early Stage 1 News - Mrs Pritchard
Hello to all parents and carers.
It has been a couple of very busy weeks. It has been nice to see that some of the Kindergarten students have been working very hard to get Classroom Merit Awards.
Some of these awards are for academic learning in the classroom and for following the school expectations of being a safe and respectful learner.
Please keep the merit awards in a safe place at home. When your child has received 3 Class Merit Awards they will receive a Stage Supervisor Award. You will need to send in the 3 Class Merit Awards to the classroom teacher.
The Stage Supervisor Awards are handed out at the fortnightly Infants Assembly. Once your child has achieved 3 Stage Supervisor Awards they will receive a Principal’s Award.
I look forward to handing out the first Class Merit Awards at the Infants Assembly this Friday.

COVID-19 - Good Hygiene
The best way to protect yourself from COVID-19 is the same way you would protect yourself from catching flu or other respiratory illnesses. Remember there are simple steps to help stop the spread and good hygiene is in your hands. We have some pictures below to help stay safe during this time.
From the classroom - Early Stage 1 EAL/D and Mr Panagiris
This term children in Early Stage 1 have been learning about places with a focus on places that we use. The last couple of weeks we have been investigating our school its playground, our learning space and the garden.
The children have been learning vocabulary related to the garden and caring for our garden. We have had lots of fun reading texts together, learning about garden tools, writing exploring our garden and planting some herbs in pots.
Stage 1 News - Ms Vejzovic
What’s been happening in Stage 1
Students in Stage 1 have been learning about the 7 Habits and what it means to be proactive and to begin with the end in mind.
Through role-plays and group activities students identified how they can be proactive both at school and at home. Students drew pictures of how they make plans to achieve their goals.
Have a look at some of their fantastic work.
Ms Vejzovic
Stage 1 - Relieving Assistant Principal
From the classroom - 2V and Ms Mehinovic
2V have been working very hard this term during their maths lessons. Students have been learning about estimating and measuring the area of different surface areas in the classroom using informal units.
Students enjoyed the challenge of using uni blocks to estimate and measure how many uni blocks can cover various surfaces in the classroom. 2V worked collaboratively in small groups to find efficient ways to count the informal units and share their results with the rest of the class.
Stage 2 News - Mrs McDonald
Stage 2 have been extra busy in science learning about animals. Year 3 have concentrated on Animal Classification while year 4 have focused on Food and fibre products.
You can see Year 4 making bread after learning about the process of wheat to flour and then the products it is made into. We also used flour to conduct an experiment around making glue and determining the correct combination of flour to water ratio.
Stage 2 have also been getting to experiment with Ozobots. Where the students design a path for the Ozobot to move around.
As well as the usual classroom activities we took some time to celebrate Multicultural Day and thank our parents for all their help during remote learning during Education Week in week 3. It has been a fun packed term.
A reminder about school uniform. Students need a school hat everyday! Check that students have their equipment including whiteboard markers, glue and pencils.
Year 4 are starting to earn pen licenses this term and next so they will require a blue and red pen.
Thanks Mrs McDonald

Library Book Suggestion Box
By popular demand the Book Suggestion Box is back in the Library near the Circulation Desk. Students can fill in the Book Suggestion Paper Slip with the titles of a book they would like the school to purchase for the library. Parents and carers who have any questions / queries on how they can help their child with reading at home can see their class teacher or Mr D’Cruz in the school library.
Tell Them From Me - Parent Survey
This Term, our school will be participating in the Partners in Learning parent survey, another part of the Tell Them From Me suite of surveys (student, teacher and parent surveys) on student engagement. The survey asks parents and carers questions about different factors that are known to impact on student wellbeing and engagement.
Running this survey will help our school understand parents’ and carers’ perspectives on their child’s experience at school. These include: communication between parents/carers and staff, activities and practices at home and parent/carer views on the school's support of learning and behaviour. This valuable feedback will help our school make practical improvements.
The survey is conducted entirely online on smartphones, iPads, tablets, laptops or computers. The survey will typically take 15 minutes or less to complete and is completely confidential. The parent survey will be conducted over Term 3 and early Term 4. Although participating in the survey is entirely voluntary, your responses are very much appreciated.
More information about the survey is available at: http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au.
To access the survey for Liverpool Public School click on the link: https://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/7424
The survey is available in 23 languages.
Got Game News
During Got Game this term we have been practicing and performing various skills throughout our Fundamental Movement Skills program. We are getting the opportunity to look at the different ways we can move our bodies while performing different movement sequences.
Some of the movement skills demonstrated include forward rolls, handstands, box jumps and some very impressive cartwheels. Classes are enjoying the new equipment we are bringing each week as we continue to practice and improve our movement skills in class. The favourite of all equipment has to be the trampolines though, we had such a blast practicing our shapes while jumping to music.
Classes have effectively used their interpersonal skills when interacting together to overcome some difficult challenges we have set out. Group activities such as “Jack and the Beanstalk” saw students balancing down the balance beams while holding a beanbag. Students then had to throw the beanbag onto a balance disk to collect the disk and build their beanstalk until they were close enough to collect the golden egg.
Class of the Week Prizes
Congratulations to the following classes for receiving the Got Game prize ball for their amazing efforts this term. For working well together and showing great improvement in both behaviour and their movement skills.
Well done to 6W, 6R, 2V, 1V and 1S.
Home Work-Out Challenge
Throughout the term we have highlighted the importance of movement and our involvement in physical activity. We know for our movement skills in gymnastics our core strength and overall fitness is so important. Nathan from Got Game has a short home fitness video that you can all complete. Try these challenges and let your Got Game teacher know how you went.
