PreAP English I
Lisa Pogue, Royse City High School
Agenda, Week of April 25, 2016
This Week's Agenda: Research - Communication, Collaboration, Critical-Thinking
We will spend this entire week working on our research for our group research project. Students will have a bell-ringer, time for research, and an exit-ticket. They are responsible for using their time wisely in class in order to meet the group expectations.
Homework: Be sure your research is ready for your group on Monday, May 2nd.
For parents who may be curious what we are doing, here are links to the organization documents I provided.
Parent & Student Information
RCISD continues to partner with more continuing education facilities to offer certifications for our students. Check out this video to find out what is coming next year. I hope this opens up some conversations with your child about their opportunities at school.
Our last day of school is June 2nd and it is an early release day. Semester Exams will also take place on this day. Below is the schedule:
June 1: Periods 1-4
June 2: Periods 5-8 (early release for students)
As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about your child.
In May, we will begin reading Anthem, by Ayn Rand. Students will need to obtain a personal copy of the book. It is available on Amazon Kindle and Barnes and Noble Nook for less than $1.00. It is possible to view Kindle and Nook books on the Chromebook, however they will begin taking up Chromebooks in May. Therefore, if you decide to go the Kindle route, be sure your student has additional access to a device where they can get their book. The paperback copy of this book is also fairly inexpensive on Amazon, Half-Price Books On-line, and Barnes and Noble. Please be sure your child has their copy by May 2nd.
As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about your child.
