The zipper was invented by two people. Whitcomb L. Judson.
It was invented in Chicago in the 1890s.
Background on inventor
Whitcomb L. Judson was born in Chicago Illinois on March 7th 1846. He served in the union army. Judson went to Knox college, in Illinois. He married Annie Judson they were married from 1874 till 1909. And died died on December 7, 1909 in Muskegon, MI.
Whitcomb made the zipper for his friend who had problems with his back. The zipper helped his tie his shoes. Judson made the zipper in a Chicago factory. The zipper was used for opening and closing things like pants, skirts, shoes, and lots of other things. The zipper made everyday things easier.
