DECEMBER 9, 2021
We are really getting in the spirit of the season! The K-2 Christmas program was amazing! I am so proud of the students and Mrs. Grimm. The fellowship we shared on Saturday night as families gathered for Cookies and Cocoa with Santa--as well as raising $248 for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank--was a shining example of our faith. I can't wait to see our grade 3/4 musical tonight, the Clover Patch Preschool Christmas program on Sunday, and our Band Concert next Tuesday. These events truly warm my heart and spread the joy of Christmas!
A special thanks to Meagan Slee, Renae McMahon, and the CPTO for organizing the St. Nick's Shop and making it possible for our students to purchase gifts for family members. The older students were great role models for the K-2 children and helped them pick out the perfect presents. St. Nick's Shop will be open after school tomorrow for parents to purchase stocking stuffers for their families at half-price. Come join in the fun!
Our COVID cases are on the decline, and I want to thank everyone for being so responsible and keeping your children home when they are sick. As of today we have less than 2% of our school out with COVID. Fortunately the children affected are showing very mild symptoms. Continue to pray for good health over the holidays.
Blessings,
Lynette Hackett
Principal
FAITH
The St. Patrick teachers lead by example as they work to assemble meal packages at the Northeast Iowa Food Bank. The group worked together during their Lenten Renewal this week.
EXCELLENCE
Mrs. Rezendez uses Pear Deck, an interactive program to review concepts and keep track of how well her students are progressing. With this program students are given questions and their answers appear on the teacher's laptop. The teacher is immediately given the individual scores and a class percentage to evaluate whether the class is ready to move on or needs review or reteaching of a concept. The students love it and Mrs. Rezendez receives valuable data. That's a win-win!
SERVICE
Thanks to Mrs. Kjeldsen's class for serving Cookies and Cocoa at our event with Santa on Saturday night. Through their lemonade stand and hot cocoa table, this group has raised over $500 for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank.
SAVE THE DATE
The Main Event is back for 2022. Our committee has begun securing auction items for our evening of live music and fun at the Hilton Garden Inn on Saturday, Feb. 26. If you have an item or service to donate to the auction, or can secure one, contact Laura Dobson at Ldobson@cfcatholicschool.org or 319-277-6781. What's the Main Event? It's a celebration of our school and a chance to get adults together to celebrate and support our school. It's how we close out our Annual Appeal which we are kicking off this week!
