Mr. Mauck's Musings
Congratulations to our student and staff of the week winners. Ms. Gabi Ross and Mr. Terry Gobert were recognized this week as individuals that make JHS great. StuCo has a new set of bulletin boards for their monthly competition. We are also recognizing the Junior class officers and student council representatives. Mark Mayo has the JHS winter garden up and running in the atrium. It is a nice green area as the days become shorter and colder. On Monday, there was a costume contest among the teachers by departments. The winning department was the Science department. Thank you to Megan Wehr for creating the traveling trophy.
The students that took the SAT at JHS on October 12th have received their scores. Along that same note, if you or your student is taking an AP class and is contemplating a change for the second semester please let Mr. Uebelhor know. We have to order the tests in November and if you have not indicated you will be dropping the class by Nov. 15th there will be a $40 penalty assessed by the AP test vendor.
Just a reminder that time changes on Saturday night and we will be falling back an hour due to daylight savings time. Tuesday is Election Day and we encourage all that are eligible to vote to go out and do so.
JHS will be participating in the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program. If you would like to donate a new unwrapped toy please bring them in or send those in with your students anytime for the next two weeks. There are collection boxes in the atrium and main office. Please note the community events as there is a girls' golf program and the Turkey Trot added this week. Good luck to all our students competing this weekend and have a safe and enjoyable weekend.

Call for Foster Parents in DuCo
“Right now, there are more than 20 Dubois County children in foster care. Over 15 of these children are placed outside of Dubois County. The Indiana Department of Child Services depends on people like you to offer foster children a safe and loving home within their county. Children of all ages – but especially older youth and sibling groups – need a place to stay while in the foster care system. Learn more about becoming a foster parent at Indianfostercare.org or contact the Dubois County DCS office at 812-482-2585 to speak to a Foster Care Specialist.”

BOOK BANTER FROM YOUR LIBRARY
Congratulations to Elise Lampert who is the winner of October’s “Guess Who?” contest! Stop by the library to see which teacher chose which book. November’s contest is to sign a star in recognition of our veterans and then submit a slip guessing how many books are in our library. Look for the coming display honoring our veterans!
Thanks to those of you who returned books in my absence last week. It is greatly appreciated!!
Please be encouraged not to skip checking your selection out at the front desk. And please be certain to return your books. Books are expensive to purchase. For each lost/missing copy that has to be replaced, fewer brand new titles can be purchased.
Happy Reading!!
