Principal's Message...
There are so many Proud Peace Dale Moments to share this week, so I will keep my message short and sweet!
Last week, the Rhode Island Department of Education released RICAS data. This assessment was administered to all 3rd and 4th graders at Peace Dale, last Spring. Below, you will find a RIDE hand out that provides a snapshot of this assessment. Assessment results are posted on RIDE's website: https://lms.backpack.education/public/ride. In the upcoming weeks, we will begin to do a deep dive into the data and determine how we can use the results to improve teaching and learning for our students. Individual student reports will be available soon and there will be more information to follow.
Fall New England weather can be unpredictable- cool in the morning, but warmer in the afternoon. During this time of year, it is not uncommon for our lost and found area to become flooded with hoodies, sweaters and sweatshirts. Please check to see if your child may be missing an item of clothing and then take a minute to visit our lost and found. Soon, we will need to clean out this area and all unclaimed articles of clothing will be donated to local charity.
As we finish out another month, I am compelled to say again, how honored I am to be leading this learning organization. Each and everyday, I am impressed by the commitment and passion I see by all stakeholders. It is truly a special place.
Wishing everyone a great week!
Best always,
~Mrs. Komocar

Peace Dale's Safety Vestibule & Parking Lot Updates
In order to provide the construction workers a more optimal space to work, we will be utilizing the front side door for all traffic coming in and out of the building after 3:30pm, however, those needing to access the building using the front doors will be able to do so, if needed.
The outside work should be completed by the end of November and the whole project is scheduled to be completed by the first of the year.
Our Parking Lot Project is still anticipated to begin in Summer of 2020.
We will continue to update the community, as necessary. As always, please reach out with any questions or concerns: kkomocar@sksd-ri.net or 401-360-1604.
School Closings or Delays- Rhode Island Broadcasters Association
All South Kingstown school closings or delays will be broadcast by members of the Rhode Island Broadcasters Association.
The district, as a courtesy, does send notification of school closings by the School Messenger system, but you should depend on RIBA for definitive information.

Proud Moments at Peace Dale!
Coding in Kindergarten!
Kindergarten students in Ms. Casey's class used the Bee Bot and did some coding to get him from start to a number. Students had to use the cards first, then program it on the Bee Bot to see if it worked! Coding is an important skill for all students. It helps students problem solve and build resilience, which are essential skills for their future.

Battle of The Books!
The Battle of the Books is a fun, literacy-based event for fourth graders that is co-sponsored by the Library Media Specialists of the South Kingstown public elementary schools and the Youth Services Librarians of the South Kingstown Public Library. Students from all elementary schools read a list of books and participate in a "quiz like" game, where they answer questions posed by librarians.
Here is one of our 4th graders, Molly Walsh, preparing for the battle! She is reading The Trail, while camping in New Hampshire and hiking on the Appalachian Trail!
The battle will take place on April 15th, 2020, in South Kingstown High School Auditorium from 7:00-8:30pm.
