It's Been a Great Week at Hoover!

RACE FOR EDUCATION

We're still a long way from our goal and you can help!

The Hoover PTO is hosting the Race for Education fundraiser through May 21. On May 21 all students will be walking in shifts all day at Hoover Field to raise money through sponsorship for the PTO. If we reach our goal of $5,000 there will not be another fundraiser in the fall. All proceeds support student events, awards, and special activities. Some examples include: bounce houses for field day, Pioneer Day and Camping Trip supplies, guest speakers, student awards (trophies, ribbons, etc...), and the 4th grade rat & Iditarod projects, etc...

All students who have at least one sponsor will earn a prize. Students with two sponsors will receive a second prize, and for every 5 sponsors, students will be entered into a drawing for a $25 gift card. As a bonus, if the school reaches its goal, students will get to turn Mrs. Galinowski and Mrs. Jones into human ice cream sundaes in front of the whole school on the last day before summer vacation! THE BUSY SEASON IS HERE

As we wind down the school year, please be sure to read any newsletters, emails, Class DoJo messages, or check our Facebook page for information regarding all of the end of the year events. The 4th grade will be going to the Symphony this Tuesday, and 5th grade will participate in the 5th Grade Track Meet at CHS on Thursday. The spring is always such a busy time and there is a lot of important information coming home of which you need to be aware. Check those backpacks every night!

ILEARN

Our students did an excellent job with the new ILEARN test. It was challenging, but they all persevered! We will continue giving individual and make-up tests to students who were absent through May 17.

5th Grade Track Meet

The 5th grade track meet will be held on May 9th at Crawfordsville High School. All students and volunteers will need to purchase a school lunch that day per corporation policy. Any parents who wish to watch the track meet as spectators will be permitted to sit in the guest area of the bleachers, but will not be permitted in student areas. Please contact Mrs. Reese if you are able to assist at: kreese@cville.k12.in.us or 765-362-2691

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK MAY 6-10

Teacher Appreciation Week is next week! Please consider taking a few moments to share a story or express gratitude to a teacher or teachers. I can tell you that every educator sometimes doubts whether what they are doing is making a difference. We know that’s not true! Let them know the importance that they hold in our society and in the hearts of our parents and kids!

Here are some thoughts:

1. Tell a story about how a teacher personally touched your life on social media. Be sure to make the message public so that it can be shared! It doesn’t have to be long!

2. Have your student write a note of thanks to their teacher. Take a picture and share it with the world!

3. If there has been a coach, secretary, bus driver, custodian, maintenance/grounds person, cafeteria worker, or any other member of our school community who has been a positive influence in your child’s life, share that with our community!

4. Send an email to a teacher or teachers thanking them for their hard work.

5. Send a simple thank you note to your child’s teacher.

Thanks in advance,

Scott Bowling
