Announcements

  • Happy New Year! It was great to see everyone today.

  • Yellow Day is Friday, January 8! More details below.
  • No school Friday, January 15 and Monday, January 18.

Yellow Day

This Friday, January 8, Green Oaks School will celebrate Yellow Day! All students and staff will go to see the movie Yellow Day. Click here to watch the movie trailer: https://youtu.be/IFebfv7RV38. Everyone should wear yellow on Friday. All students, even those that do not attend on Fridays, are invited to attend the movie. More details coming soon.

Teen Group

The Down Syndrome Partnership of North Texas is in the process of creating a teen club. If you want your adolescent (ages 13-18) to participate in the new teen program, parents must attend a meeting on January 9 beginning at 6:30 p.m., the meeting will last around 30 minutes. After the meeting you can leave your teen and return to pick them up at 9:00 p.m. Please RSVP to Liz at elizabeth@dspnt.org or call the DSPNT office at (817) 390-2970.

The teen club will meet at least once a month and the cost to participate is $5.00 per event. All teen events will be supervised by DSPNT staff and volunteers. Club 321 and the teen club will have at least three combined events each year. The first combined event is a New Year's Dance Party this Saturday, January 9 from 6:30-9:00 p.m. at Dottie Lynn Recreation Center, 3200 Norwood Lane Arlington, TX 76013. Pizza will be served to teens and Club 321 members.

RSVP must be turned in to the DSPNT by email to elizabeth@dspnt.org or by phone to the DSPNT office at (817) 390-2970.

Gator Gala

This year's event will be held on February 27 at Cacharel Restaurant. Our theme will be "On the Red Carpet" and will celebrate our wonderful students. Mark your calendar now for this fun event! We will have limited seating this year so you'll want to get your reservation in early. Invitations will be sent in January. (We will need help with these, so please stand by in early January!)

Auction Items Needed

We ask each of our families to contribute an item for our auction. This can be something you get donated from an area restaurant or business, so you don't need to spend a penny. We especially need larger items for our Live Auction and bottles of wine for our Wine Pull. Auction item forms will be sent home this week. Call Jean if you have ideas, suggestions, or contact names for donations.

Interested in Housing Options?

We will be forming a housing co-operative for Green Oaks/Arlington through Project Independence. In order to join, you must attend a presentation by CPSH (like the one held here on November 8). We will be offering two presentations on January 27, 2016. The first will be at 2:30 p.m. and the second at 6:30 p.m. If you are interested in attending one of these, please let Jean know at jeanjewell@greenoaksschool.org.
