Colleen Shields Announced as New Principal of Westlake Hills Elementary School
At the Tuesday, May 19th Board of Education Meeting, Colleen Shields was announced as the new principal of Westlake Hills Elementary School. We proudly welcome her to the CVUSD!
Ms. Shields has served a variety of roles in education in distinct school settings and at all levels of K-5 education. This includes 11 years as an educator in 1st-5th grade classrooms, and 22 years as a principal. Most recently she served as the principal of an esteemed elementary school in San Marino, California.
The Colina Middle School team wows with their talent in the original song "Do You Miss Me Oh Colina," written and directed by Anne Fruehling (Colina Band Teacher) and performed for students! (Warning: the song in this video is guaranteed to get in your head.) Go Cougars!

Free WiFi Available at Select CVUSD Schools’ Parking Stalls
Internet connection is key to distance learning for CVUSD students, and we are proud to offer another, free way for students to digitally connect.
As of Thursday, May 14th, families may find specially marked parking spaces at five CVUSD schools where they will be able to easily connect to the internet for free. The school sites are:
- Acacia Magnet School – 55 W. Norman Ave., Thousand Oaks: 5 Parking Stalls
- EARThS Magnet School – 2626 Michael Drive, Newbury Park: 8 Parking Stalls
- Ladera STARS Academy –1211 Calle Almendro, Thousand Oaks: 5 Parking Stalls
- Los Cerritos Middle School – 2100 E. Ave. de las Flores, Thousand Oaks: 14 Parking Stalls
- Thousand Oaks High School –2323 N. Moorpark Road, Thousand Oaks: 28 Parking Stalls
Served with love. From March 16th through May 28th, our Child Nutrition team has served a phenomenal 114,336 FREE meals to children ages 2-18.

COVID-19 Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) Benefits are Now Available for Eligible California Families
COVID-19 Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) benefits are now available for eligible California families. Families with children who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals can apply for food assistance ($365 per child) before June 30. Families may receive the P-EBT Benefits and also receive free meals from CVUSD's meal distributions.
