Recommendations and expectations for Region 12 students
Summer Assignments
Grades K - 5:
- Read lots of books! Record all books that you read on the Governor's Reading Challenge Log and hand it in on the first day of school.

Grades 6 - 8:
- Read at least one book from the Middle Grades Summer Reading List. Take brief notes (title, author, setting, theme) for your own use in responding to a reading prompt at the beginning of the school year.
- Record all books that you read on the Governor's Reading Challenge Log and hand it in on the first day of school.
- Visit your local public library and check-out a book. Be sure that your name is checked off our list at the circulation desk.
Grades 9 - 12:
- Read at least one book from the High School Summer Reading List. Take brief notes (title, author, setting, theme) for your own use in responding to a reading prompt at the beginning of the school year.
