Classroom Spotlight - Mrs. Haab's Kindergarten Class
Kindergarten ABC Bootcamp!
Mrs. Haab’s class practices a letter of the alphabet each day in class for the first 26 days of school. Here are all the ways we practiced the letter Ll and its sound. We started by reading a story to hear the sound in several words. Then we got out our ‘sound mirrors’ and looked at our lips, tongue and teeth to practice making the sound correctly. We then learned the song from the Jolly Phonics program. For Ll, we sang about licking lollipops. Since we made our Superkid Cass cooking caps in class earlier in the morning, we went through vegetable cards with letters on them in search of ‘L’. We discovered the soup of the day was corn soup since that was the vegetable that had the letter L on it. We made the letter with our bodies to keep our learning active! Some letters can be pretty tricky, but luckily, L is an easy one to do! Next, we practiced handwriting strokes for the letter. We always use our finger and ‘skywrite’ the letter several times in the air. We took a little action break and danced to a ‘Looby Loo’ song video. This was so fun the kids asked to do it again! We used Laser Lights to identify and trace Ll on papers around the room. Finally, we completed an L booklet in which we colored the order of the strokes to make the letter, traced the letter to practice proper handwriting formation, and searched for the target letter among a group of letters. We sure know a lot about the letter of the day when we’re finished!

The bags will contain a variety of nutritious, non-perishable food items such as macaroni and cheese, fruit cups, granola bars, raisins, juice boxes, crackers, oatmeal, and applesauce. The bags may include products containing peanuts, wheat, milk, or other common food allergens. It is your responsibility to ensure the items are appropriate for your child to consume.
