5th Annual First Responders Night Draws Huge Crowds & Support
One of the most anticipated Howell events of the year did not disappoint on Friday night as the Vikings hosted the 5th Annual First Responders Night and the #7 state ranked Kirkwood Pioneers. The evening featured many special events and activities that brought thousands onto the campus of Francis Howell High School. The evening kicked off with a DJ Block Party at 4:30pm in front of the stadium. Several First Responder vehicles and members of the Patriot Guard Riders showcased their vehicles and motorcycles in front of the stadium for fans prior to the game. At 6:40 p.m. on field festivities began with recognition of military personnel, First Responders, the FHSD Board and Dr. Mary Hendricks-Harris. Fans were brought to their feet as the football team was led onto the field by 37 Patriot Guard Riders and their motorcycles. The entrance to the field by our Vikings included a huge fireworks display and flyover by a WWII B25-J Mitchell Bomber. All fans in attendance remained standing as the Patriot Guard Riders presented the colors and our Viking band played the National Anthem. A very special delivery of the game ball came via the Metro Air Support helicopter. The game ball was delivered by Captain Craig Ostermeyer and taken by Howell 12th Man President and Gulf War Veteran Jenn Heismeyer. During halftime both Howell and Kirkwood fans raised nearly $2000 in a ninety second "Dash for Cash" to be donated to the Backstoppers. Below you can find many pictures and video's from this great community event. Thank you to the many workers, volunteers and fans that made this night possible. The positive feedback and strong showing from our students, staff, fans and community was truly impressive.

Purple Out Softball Game Raises Money For Friends Of Kids With Cancer
The Softball program held their 6th annual "Purple Out" game as the Vikings hosted FHC at Maryville University. This year the JV programs were added to the event and both the Howell and FHC choirs had students perform the National Anthem and Take Me Out to the Ballgame. The Purple Out game raised over $1000 for a great cause. All proceeds from the event are being donated to the Friends of Kids With Cancer organization. It was amazing to see the overwhelming support of Francis Howell, Francis Howell Central, fans, and the community for this great yearly event. Howell would like to thank Stacey Davis and the many other parents involved in setting up the event as well as FHC for their continued support of this great event. A very special thank you is also owed to Jim Powers, Lonnie Folks and Maryville University for partnering with Howell for this great event. We are happy to announce that Maryville will continue to support this game and next season the game will be played in Maryville University's brand new softball complex. Thank you again to all that came out to support this great event for an even greater cause.
