Hurried Child Syndrome
Don't Waste Your Children's Childhood
What is it?
Hurried Child Syndrome is a condition in which parents over-schedule their children's lives. The parents also push them too hard for academic success. The main other cause is the expectations of behaving and reacting as adults at young ages.
Prevention
Avoid scheduling activities every day, so kids have some time to read, play, do homework, etc. It is recommended that a child should have no more than two extracurricular activities per week. Give them time to play and grow. If they don't use their imagination, it will cease to grow.
Give kids options. Don't limit it to two choices, though. Make it fun by letting them arrange their day and don't forget to add some "me" time in from them. It's hard to play if you don't have the time.
