The Week Ahead

Good Afternoon RECHS,

I hope that you enjoyed this brisk fall weekend with your family! I wanted to say thank you to each of you. I feel grateful to be here and work with such a talented group of teachers and staff. Everyday, I see each of you giving your best to the students and to one another. As we begin this very busy week, know that that I am thankful for the energy and passion that you put into what you do daily.

This week, I have included a video that I hope you will enjoy. It is called Know Your Why. As I watched the video, I thought about our students and their learning. If our students explicitly understand the why of the lessons they are taught, the what will transform into a deeper understanding. This can be powerful!

Enjoy the video!

Have a great week!

Speak Up District Survey

This week and next week during your seminar classes, your students need to take the Speak Up Survey. Speak Up is the only national education research project that provides your stakeholders a voice in national education policy AND you with valuable feedback that can be used in your own local planning and decision-making.

Please use the directions below to administer the survey:

Taking the survey is easy!

  1. Follow these instructions to take the survey:

  2. Visit http://www.bit.ly/SU15survey.

  3. Select your group (e.g. parents, educators, student)

  4. Search for your school by entering your zip code or by selecting North Carolina and selecting your school’s name from the list.

  5. Read the instructions and begin the survey.

We look forward to Randolph County School System’s strong participation in SpeakUp 2015! Be sure to take the survey from October 1st to December 18th. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Nan York at nyork@randolph.k12.nc.us. Additionally, the SpeakUp team is available to answer any of your concerns; they can be reached via email at SpeakUp@tomorrow.org or by calling 949-609-4660
