Coats, Hats, and Gloves
When the weather turns cold, you start to notice children that do not have the proper clothing to deal with the cold temperatures. If you notice a child that might be in need, I am happy to contact the parent and clear our donation. Once the donation is approved I pick up the items. Thanks for being observant and caring for our children
HHH
The process for Holiday Helping Hands has begun. We sent out 174 letters to families today to determine the families that need our assistance. Before you know it the tags will go on the Christmas tree in the office and we will be distributing gifts.
Bus Safety
A story that David told me this morning, reminded me of a safety procedure we need to make sure we follow. David has been been driving as a substitute since we are short drivers. The other day a girl got off his bus and started walking towards her home. A paper she had, blew back under the bus. The girl headed toward the bus and reached down under the bus to get it. Luckily David saw what was going on and kept the bus stopped. Several years ago we had the same situation happen and the outcome was tragic. Please remind your students to keep all their papers in the backpack until they walk in the house.

Make ‘Em Laugh
While teaching, to start our social studies lesson, we would always show CNN Student News, hosted by Carl Azus. At the end of the newscast, the last story would always be followed by some sort of pun. These puns would be ridiculously cheesy and almost groan-worthy, but it became the highlight of the news for my students.
Some people say that you act like the grade you teach. My co-teachers and I would play a variety of pranks on one another- and those pranks created some of the best memories. At MRE, we may be known for a few pranks too all around the building. One thing to always hold on to is the laughter in life. This week, I was reminded how good it feels to have a contagious laugh that renders you nearly breathless and unable to stop. And while life is overwhelming at times for us all, don’t forget all the joy that is around.
I found this little gem of a teacher incorporating a little humor into a classroom chart.
Next week, I encourage you to find a way to bring a little laughter with you to school. Knowing our staff, I’m pretty sure this task will not be too difficult to accomplish.
