Summary of the Cask of Amantillado
The narrator, Montresor, opens the story by telling us that his acquaintance, Fortunato, has insulted him and that he wants revenge. He uses Fortunato's weakness for wine against him and tells him about a light Spanish cherry that he has. He ends up trapping Fortunato inside the catacombs to die.
Summary of the Most Dangerous Game
In this story two experienced hunters are sailing to a place to hunt jaguars. On the way there the main character, Rainsford, starts to question hunting. He says the animals do feel the fear and that it isn't fair to them. But his partner just brushes it off after everyone goes too sleep, Rainsford ends up falling overboard. He swims to the island that everyone is scared about. There he finds a wealthy yet hospitable man who provides him with the finest food and clothes. He soon comes to know an ugly truth about the man, he likes to murder people for fun. Hunting dumb animals has bored him and now so has hunting regular sailors, so he wants to hunt someone smarter. This unfortunate happens to be Rainsford. For three days he outwits the wealthy man and at the ends up killing the wealthy man.
Foreshadowing
Foreshadowing is the preview or insight into what is about to happen.
It helps the reader be more engaged in the story, and get a head start of what is going to happen.

"Rainsford's first impression was that the man was singularly handsome; his second was that there was an original, almost bizarre quality about the general's face." (Connell, 5)
The quote shows what the reader is about to see of Zaroff. He is a creepy man, which can be seen in his appearance.
Quote from The Cask of Amontillado
"I was so pleased to see him, that I thought I should never have done wringing his hand." (Poe, 4)
The quote talks about something that the character did, which is to be later discussed, but gives the reader a heads up.
