St. Columba Catholic School - News every Friday - 3/12/21
One Year. One year seems like a long time, but it can also fly by.
One year ago, I sent out the email to our community that we were going to close down our school. We all thought it was temporary and wouldn't last long. Boy, were we wrong!
A lot has changed since March 13, 2020. We have carried out distance learning, we reopened our school with massive changes in procedures, schedules, and policies, we have quarantined classes, we have switched back and forth between online and in person learning, our teachers have taught students online and in person at the same time, and most importantly, we have come together as a community!
I am so proud of where our school is and the amazing amount of growth we have made in a year. I am proud to lead our school and be a part of this amazing community! We should all be proud of the incredible resilience displayed by our students. We should also all be proud of the ultimate dedication made by our parents over our past year! All of this wouldn't be possible without the incredible teachers and staff we have at St. Columba! We should be so proud of the work they have done this past year. This has not been an easy year for any of us, but we are stronger now than we ever have been!
Next week should be a fun one. We will be celebrating Pi Day (3.14 aka March 14th) on Monday with some fun Pi related activities in the afternoon, including a pie eating contest! Wednesday is St. Patrick's Day, so our students will get to wear lots of green!
Here is a look ahead at the upcoming events on campus:
- Monday, March 15: Pi Day celebrations in the afternoon!
- Tuesday, March 16:
- Wednesday, March 17: Wear Green and Jeans for St. Patrick's Day; Pickup St. Patrick's Day Dinners (4-6pm)
- Thursday, March 18:
- Friday, March 19: K-8 Half Day; 7th Grade Leads Stations of the Cross (11am)
Blessings,
Mr. Amann
Prayer Request
Our former art teacher and current Title I reading tutor, Ms. C, has recently found out that she has a hole in her heart.
She will be undergoing more tests to determine the severity and next steps.
Please hold her in your prayers!
Everyone that knows Ms. C loves her and she has a special place in our St. Columba hearts!

Discount Card Fundraiser
In an effort to make up for some of the profits that we did not make from Fall Festival this year, we are holding a Discount Card Fundraiser.
For $10, you will receive a discount card that will be good from April 1, 2021-March 31, 2022 and it will be full of great local partners!
Please see the photo below to see the great deals!
You can start purchasing the cards through Schoolspeak now. You can also send payment in with your child or come in to make a payment with Ms. Linda.
It will be our expectation that each child buy/sell at least 2 cards.
Cards will be available for pickup in before the end of March.
Stations of the Cross: Upcoming Schedule
For the upcoming Fridays of Lent, our K-8 students will be leading and attending Stations of the Cross, a special opportunity for our students to grow closer to Christ as they connect to his Passion and Death.
