COVID-19 At Home Test Kits For Students
Dear Parents/Guardians,
As we prepare for students to return to school on January 11, 2022, we are now able to add another layer of safety for families and staff. The state of California is providing all families with access to at-home COVID-19 testing kits for their children in the near future.
In the meantime, Vista Unified will continue to offer COVID-19 testing for families and staff members. While there is no statewide testing mandate for students to return to school, families are encouraged to take advantage of this important health and safety precaution at one of our four testing locations:
Vista High School
1 Panther Way, Vista
Rancho Buena Vista High School
1601 Longhorn Drive, Vista
Vista Innovation Center
836 Olive Avenue, Vista
Mission Vista High School
1306 Melrose Drive, Oceanside
Vista Unified will also be distributing at-home testing kits for students as soon as they are available through our county health partners. Once we receive delivery of the testing kits, we will make them available for immediate pick-up at the locations listed below. We will send a follow-up communication once the locations are open. Please know that Vista Unified is committed to providing parents, students, and staff as many health and safety options as possible.

Understanding the Results:
We encourage you to use one of our four testing centers for your students and if available conduct the at-home COVID-19 test on your student 24 hours prior to the start of school on Tuesday, January 11th, and use the list below as reference for the results:
Should your child test positive, keep your student home from school, and contact your doctor and your school right away.
If the results of your child’s at home test are unclear, please retest at school or at one of our district-sponsored testing sites.
If your student has symptoms (like cough and fever) or has been in contact with someone with COVID-19, please keep them home, and use your test to see if they are COVID-19 positive. In addition, please contact their school before they return as more testing may be needed.
And finally, if your student’s test is negative and your student feels well and has no COVID-19 symptoms, we look forward to welcoming them back to campus.
The month of December showed a sharp increase in the number of COVID-19 positive cases throughout our community, county, and state. Vista Unified is grateful to those families willing to do their part to keep our schools safe and open for in-person learning.
We're all in this together,
Matt Doyle, Ed.D.
