Active and Passive Transport
Similarities and Differences
Similarties
Both active and passive transport use protein to move substances across the membrane. They depend on the concentrations even though they are different, they both are being used. Active and passive transport allow the cell to maintain homeostasis. By them doing this it allows an equilibrium of substances in and out of the cell. Basically they both are a movement by moving things in and out of the cell.
Differences
Active transport uses ATP to pump the molecules while passive transport is the diffusion across a membrane. That is also the motion of the molecules without the use of energy. Active transport also occurs from a low concentration to a high concentration and this transport requires energy. Passive transport has a big difference because this goes from a high concentration to a low concentration without the use of energy. Both transports are very important to the cell even though they are different it still helps the cell.
