Mrs. Johnston, our school counselor, meets with each class on a monthly basis for a guidance lesson. JES focuses on a different Core Essential each month. The Core Essential for February is kindness, showing others they are valuable by how you treat them.

Youth Mental Health First Aid Training is Back

CISD Special Programs is excited to offer Virtual Youth Mental Health First Aid Training Classes on Saturday, February 27, 2021 and Saturday, March 27, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for CISD parents and community members. Mental Health First Aid is a six hour, evidence-based program designed to develop the skills to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness. There are ONLY 20 seats available per training session! Registration is required. Click here for more information on registering.

The Board of Trustees has approved four additional planning/professional development half days for the Spring semester for our teachers. The following dates will be half days at school. Please note that the early release time has changed to 11:40. Asynchronous learning will occur 11:40-3:20

• February 26, 2021
• March 12, 2021
• April 16, 2021
• April 30, 2021

On these dates, the first half of the day will be a normal day for both in-person and DVA students, while the afternoon will now be an asynchronous learning half-day for all students, regardless of enrollment in DVA or in-person learning. Our teachers will use the afternoon half-days as planning time/professional development.
